When I first started vaping, I know I was vaping way more than I smoked. Part of that was the newness and trying to stave off cravings. The absorption of nicotine is different with the e-cigs (delayed absorption and probably not as efficient).
Now that I've been vamping for ~7 months, my habits have changed quite a bit. I can go quite a long time without vaping without having that, "I've got to have a smoke now or I'm going to destroy something" feeling. I get up early in the morning to have my quiet computer/coffee/vaping time. So that time of day I vape a lot, but after that it's just a little use here and there throughout the day.
I recently coached a creative problem solving team that my daughter was on that required me to be on a non-smoking campus from 9 am to 6 pm, herding a bunch of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders around. I sneaked a couple of vapes in the bathroom that whole time, and despite the stress of the competition and herding kids around I was calm and not going bonkers for nicotine. If I had still been smoking I would have been a basket case. Something about the addiction to *just* nicotine is definitely different than the addiction to cigarettes.
