Does referring to a PV as e-cig hurt the cause?

As a person that has been around E-cigs for a long time I could not agree with the term "E-cig" more (started with a Blu back in 09). The term was coined back when the only ones you could buy were the cig-a-likes. As people got fed up with the lack of power, short battery life, and small liquid reservoirs, things started to change cosmetically. The point I am making is that we are still using the same thing, but with bigger batteries, more controls (in some cases), and more choices in atomizers. You can paint a pumpkin all you like to make it look like something else, it's still a pumpkin.

In Prague, they use the term e-nic, which is what I prefer...

Now that I like. It is more precise while maintaining a connection the well known phrase electronic cigarette.

Gonna have to side with "e-cig". Everyone that sees me vaping and is unfamiliar with pv's asks if I am using a Hookah and gives me a sly, knowing look. I always have to clarify and the shortest, most easily understood explanation is "e-cig".

Like it or not, a vaporizer is a drug delivery system. The real problem lies with the culture that says it's okay to drink your drugs or take your drugs in pill form. Just as long as your not inhaling your drugs. That's bad.

Not to 'split hairs' but technically speaking, nicotine is a drug. A very powerful one, in fact.

Like someone else stated, I also find it easier to use the term e-cig. People automatically recognize the term and there is less explaining to be done. After telling them it's an e-cig, people want to know why it doesn't look like what they see in the gas stations.

I would have to say yes, plenty of drugs a naturally occurring. At least naturally occurring on the same level as nicotine.

Pursue happiness with whatever words you will. The busybodies and folks who would tell you how to or how not to live will find a way to make whatever words you choose seem onerous. The best you can do is say what you will, live how you want, and refuse to support those who have problems with your choices.

Not really. Most people know them as "Electronic cigarettes." When you refer to it as a PV, a stranger, who may be in the process of quitting smoking, may not understand what it is (they may assume you are smoking contraband through it, and stray away).
If you refer to it as an electronic cigarette, that same strange may approach you, seeking more information.

I do agree that "Electronic cigarette" should be replaced with another term, seeing as how we are in NO WAY using cigarettes, or "smoking" for that matter. Maybe something like PV to fellow vapors, and cigarette replacement mod to others (yes I know, the last term isn't very creative)
