Here, there, everywhere!
Sorry but I still think you all are doing one heck of a job. Keep up the good work. The server shuting down concerned me today but I wound up have to do a patrol so no worries anymore. I still think you all are the best place in the world wide web.

**thumbs up**

That would be caused by a plugin you have installed in your browser. these usually get bundled with free software or games. It isn't being done by ECF.

I apologize then but I haven't done anything to my computer today..............welcome to the world wide web.........thanks. I will try to find the culprit

and on page 2 i have some threads which were updated today and never moved to the first page

My "My Posts" is also a bit off. They are listed in order of where I posted last, instead of the thread's last post. Not horrible, but I liked it better before.

You guys are doing a great job maintaining the best forum.

This issue has been looked at and is a problem with the way vBulletin and Sphinx Search interact, (shinx is optimized for speed and vB isn't) that is why the results don't always sort properly.

Harry did some research and says this is a known issue. He also says there is a solution -- but it will affect the display. My tests also show that it will also slightly alter the functionality of that search.

it would look like this:
Search Results - E-Cigarette Forum

My Initial thought is that this is pretty pointless because most people use the my posts search to jump to the first unread post in the thread, not to their last post. Yes it will take you to the post but if you've visited the thread to read and did not post you either have to read through everything since that post or scroll up and click the button to take you to the first unread post.

So lets talk about this one and decide whether it is worth changing.

I sure don't like the alternative that you gave the link to!

I sure do miss the convenience of the old format though.

I'm not real thrilled about the issue with sorting either and I do not like the alternative. However sphinx search is far superior to the stock vB search engine and also gives you the ability to search in areas you did not have before, for example your PMs are now searchable, pictures and picture comments are searchable etc...

We may be able to work around this or we may have to wait for some type of patch to come out to sphinx. The vB community has overwhelmingly supported sphinx as the go to alternative to the really poorly implemented native search engine. Going back to the native search engine is not likely because of performance limitations and server load.

We'll keep our eyes open and see what happens. In the meantime I'm not going to ask Harry to change the MyPosts search because the issues with it are less hassle than the alternative.

I'd like to agree here. The ECF is so big that it's not easy to navigate anyhow, nevermind trying to find threads that you've posted in and someone has responded to. I don't even know how I would go about finding out if someone responded to something I said here, short of going through pages and pages of the my posts list.
