how much did this mod cost you? i'd be very interested as I might try my hand at making one.

btw: just received my first e-cig in the mail yesterday and absolutely LOVE IT

hard to say, really. my cash layout would have been strictly for the original Dura that i parted out and used or modified. every thing else i had kicking around in a closet or junk drawer.
i am (trying to) researching the availability of specific parts, but as of this moment the ones i have come across have minimum orders of like 5000 units each or something rediculious. still looking!

@ ApOsTle51

it's not my birthday. it's not i tell you! no! nonononononono !

i am in such total denial.

thank you.

where's my present? ;)

I believe the SD has sold about 400 units, but that may go up substantially if it gets manufactured in China rather than by hand. So 5,000 is a lot but, possible bans aside, it has real potential. For the time being I guess it makes sense just to explore and be ready to move but not actually move into anything large-scale yet.

Existing manufacturers might also be somewhat hesistant at the moment. On the face of it they would be silly to miss the chance of breaking new ground with such a good stylish design; whether you could cut a good deal I don't know.

It will be nice to have a non-cigarette looking product out there.

Also, I suspect the FDA might object to current hardware in terms of leaking juice (combined carts and mouthpiece) so i am looking into this. Partly also to solve the problems of inconsistent juice flow and needing to refill so often or resort to dripping. I have one solution that works well but is not something i could easily make by hand. Am now considering a design change involving the atomiser too.

OMG, i'm working on a more user friendly eliquid delivery system myself, but i wanted it to be a surprise! i'm beginning to believe i haven't an original thought in my head! then again "nothing new under the sun" and all that i guess. it seems a natural design progression, much like my thingymabob.
good luck with your ideas, i hope they pull through for you! any improvement over what's available commercially would be a welcome one indeed!

cheers!

Nice to see a different design at last. One thing though, I didn't watch all the video, is the switch wired inline with the atomiser ?, if so you could have a problem as those switches are only rated 0.05A whereas the atomiser draws approximately 1A. Someone did a mod earlier and the switch burnt out and unfortunately gave the owner a nasty burn to their finger. Apart from that a really nice mod

I don't know much about Patent's and design rights but I have noticed that Imeo has put some sort of patent on his GG.....I think the sidewinder is such a real winner of a design that perhaps it should be protected so that no large scale manufacturer could copy it

+1. That is a design worthy of patent redtape.

the switch was from an old coffe maker i believe so sounds as if it should be up to the job , but who knows !!!!
well, so far so good. still going strong.

did i ever mention that on this prototype the switch itself isn't hard-wired? should it ever fail, i can just plug a new one in. in fact, the "guts" themselves are modular and can be removed/replaced as a unit.

no?

hmmm......... ;)

One more reason that this mod is awesome!
