Im new to the forum but, not exactly new to vaping.

I half heartedly started vaping back in February of this year. My uncle has his own vape shop and I decided to check it out. I didn't do it as a way to stop smoking but as a cheaper alternative to smoking.

He set me up with his starter kit. Two 900 Mah batteries, a couple of CE3 tanks and several sample bottles of juice that he made himself. I was OK. Most of the juice I didn't like, except for one. Something that he named "Midnight". It was awesome! It tasted EXACTLY like chocolate covered cherries. (I'm not a big fruit flavor guy) Now that I look back on it, it could very well be my "all day vape". I asked him for more but, he lost the recipe. Oh well.

I went out of the country for three months with my job and forgot to bring me e-cig stuff with me. Most of the people there were doing the e-cig thing. Me with my cheap third world cigarettes, that made my teeth black faster than American cigarettes, felt jealous. I knew I was going to get back into the e-cigs once I got home.

I get home and start to get serious about this "vaping thing". I buy a couple of top wick pyrex tanks that break very soon after I bought them. My fault, I guess I wasn't very careful. I dropped them.

I felt like crap. I broke two $15 tanks within a month. I was not deterred. I felt like if I kept trying I would find "the holy grail of vaping". This was starting to not be a cheaper alternative to smoking.

I kept going. I looked for some tanks. I felt happy with the E-go batteries I had. I just needed some durable tanks. I don't need one of those huge batteries that makes me look like I'm smoking out of a 30mm bullet. Those big ones are too faddish. My choice. I just want to vape happy.

I got a Kanger pro tank II. I loved it right off the bat. Best taste ever. I don't mind the airy hit. I'm after the flavor and the vapor production. In that order. No real need for a throat hit either but that is nice sometimes.

As my luck would have it, the tank began to leak. Not just a little but a lot. My battery would be flooded. I searched Google for solutions. Maybe I was doing something wrong. Sure, I'm still new. I'm not doing something right. RIGHT?

My search of Google lead me to hundreds of reasons why my tank could be leaking plus another hundred things I could do to correct it. What!!!? This happens a lot? I'm not the only one? ...!!! I'm done!!! I give up!!! Its too hard with very little positive return with all things considered.

MY RANT:

-After ordering from several different vendors, I still can't find that "all day vape".

- my tanks are all crappy. I can't afford to spill money into a habit that, in the long run, is going to cost me more than smoking cigarettes.

- why does this have to be so hard. I can't seem to catch a break while others seem to be pleased.

- I want to vape, I would prefer to vape but I am "gun shy" due to my past experiences.

- I like the flavors. I like that I don't stink. I like that my breath doesn't stink. But, I put way too much effort into this compared to the price.

-i don't want to stop vapping but the consumption of time and money honestly is starting to out way the convenience of smoking analogs.

YOUR HELP AND ADVICE IS WELCOME

I got the Halo Triton starter kit last week and the variety sample pack. I loved some of the flavors, and everything works beautifully. No leaks, no problems, and some wonderful flavors. I didn't want a huge setup, since this is all new to me, so I did choose the very smallest battery, and the next size up. I couldn't be happier. Some of will depend on your own expectations, but this worked for me!

if you want an easy way to vape all you need is a rebuildable atomizer like the igo-l, basic dripping atomizer with a 510 connection, nothing can really go wrong with it other than the wick and you can simply change it out if you use cotton, cost is very low to maintain and setup. only flaw is you will not have a tank, you will have to drip the juice into it as you go throughout the day, but for alot of people its easiest as most tanks are a pain and its the best flavor and consistent hit you will get guaranteed

I am feeling your pain right now in fact. I have been vaping for two years now and I am at my wits end that
I feel like I am all of a sudden searching for success again.

I bought a mod (price was right) but after 3 months the switch was flakey as heck so I blew some cash
on a ProVari to discover much to my dismay that the new Kanger heads (PT 1) do not work AT ALL on my ProVari.
Replacement heads are very different from the old ones and the old ones work(ed) just fine for me.

So now here I am totally stressed as I have three heads all of them in tanks being used. After that? pffft who knows

I started about month ago and I've spent an obscene amount of money. But I blew some money on the cig-a-like set up that didn't keep me satisfied for long.

Expenses taper off after you figure out what you like. What works for you. Try sampling more of your uncle's juices. Or get some sample packs from different vendors.

I figure even if I'm spending more money now, it will get better. And I'm also saving future health costs and minutes of my life by not smoking cigarettes.

I have a protank mini 2 and an ego battery and have had no problems with leaking thus far.

edit: also I have been vaping for about two months, I have already saved money even though I have bought new things. I am sorry you haven't had a good experience so far, but I can honestly say it doesn't have to be that hard, I think you just had some bad luck. I started with a CE4 starter kit($7.50), then got some protanks mini 2s($14 each) and an extra battery($10), a few packs of coil heads(15 for $20) which should last me a long time no other expenses besides liquid. I am set for a few months now without having to buy anything (although I may buy some liquids just because).

Twiner.. I understand that the initial learning curve phase may seem to cost more than analogs.. Eventually for most it does work out once you find what works for you.
There is a financial aspect that you did not mention... Your health. Your looking at this dollar amount right now today. What about long term? Once you find the gear and liquid that works your expense will not be so much compared to continued smoking, cost of analogs and the cost of health care from smoking damage. (including prescriptions needed monthly)

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry for the bad luck on the tanks. Look around here for recommendations of reputable vendors a lot of sites are selling knock offs and just junk.

I just got a couple iclear 30 tanks and they are working great for me so far. I have a tube tank that I got from volcano as well and it worked well and didn't leak.

Unfortunately sometimes you do get junk. If you can try and get it replaced and if not don't get too discouraged. As for the juice that's another issue. I still haven't found something that I absolutely love, well maybe I got some Uncle Junk's Jon Wayne and it's pretty darn good, but anyways I'm still trying out juice from all the different vendors. I threw away a bottle just the other day because I couldn't stand it, so it happens.

I'm on my vaping journey and smoking less but I do still smoke, just not as much. So if it's a cost thing it can get hard, but I also roll my own smokes so I can roll a carton for about $15 bucks versus the $45 for a carton at the store.

I started with a protank but had the same issues of leaking, etc. I moved rebuildable drippers and tanks pretty quick and love them. Since then I have also rebuilt some of the protank heads and given it another shot. My rebuilt heads don't leak although the flavor isn't as much as the rbas and rdas. However I have started to use the protank with rebuilt heads as my travel backup.

Rebuildables are definitely more work but I find it rewarding and a great hobby.

Don't give up. I've been with this for 4 years and it sure beats spending for a carton of cigarettes each week not to mention the coughing, shortness of breath, and my hubby complaining about the odor. I love the smell of a cigarette but it can not compare to a good vape.
I just got an itaste vv(variable voltage) version 3 and the Kanger Mini Protank 2 . The Mini Protank 2 is great, and does not leak. I bought the Kanger Protank 2 and it gurgled and leaked so I gave it to a friend. I use organic flavors from Vaperite.com and make my own eliquid.
This forum provides a wealth of information as does youtube videos. Do not get discouraged, make a post for a Forum Veteran to respond to. You will get great advice. Good luck.

Yeah, been there done that. It took me 6 months to find the right tanks. 12 months to realize that the best flavor for me was no flavor at all...been vaping unflavored for the last 3-4 months. Oh I have a "flavor" now and again, just for a change, but the unflavored really does it for me.

Vaping is not necessarily a cost savings at the beginning. The real savings come later, after you have sorted everything out.

Hang in there.

Try the Mini Protank II. Of all the clearos we have, my husband has the least issues with those. I just got him a second one, in addition to the one he stole from me, and the one I bought for myself to replace what he stole. Had to get the third, because he was eyeing the second one as well. He vapes it to the bottom and it doesn't gurgle or leak for him. He's awful with every other clearo I've purchased. I don't know what he's doing to them, but the mini protanks seems to be the only one that makes it till the end of the day with him. From what I've been reading, many people prefer them over the full size Protank II's due to less hassle. They're great little tanks that look fabulous with an ego style battery.

I'm currently vaping Innokin's iClear 30b. New bottom coil from them, and it's pretty good for now. Great flavor, but it's a dual coil. Good to go on the MVP, but it's eating the power from my 650 mAh, generic variable volt.

Now that you've found the ecig forum, you can learn all you need to know by spending a little time and effort using the "search" function. My question to you is, since your Uncle owns a vape shop, why are you ordering stuff online?

Yeah vaping isn't for everyone. Anyone can use a Blue (or cig-alike), but I've been surprised how so many people can't seem to figure out how to use even ego-c type stuff, much less more sophisticated gear. My own brother and sister can't seem to figure it out. Even with me supplying the gear and explaining it to them. I feel sorry for the B&M stores. You know they've got people coming in all the time whining about "my tank is leaking", and "this crap you sold me doesn't work". When in reality they're just dumb as a box of rocks.

It does take some effort and determination, plus the desire to quit smoking cigarettes, and the commitment to spend some money trying to accomplish that goal. One can't just give up and start crying because they broke two $15 tanks being careless and clumsy. Plastic, disposable, CE4 clearamizers are perfect for my brother and sister. They're $8.99 for eight from Fastech with free shipping. They work great with ego c batteries. You can get ego c type batteries super cheap there also.

best regards, larry mac
