28g @ .4ohms.. Need to drill out the air hole a little more.. Any suggestions on how much to drill it out? It's already drilled out 5/64.

Go up to the next size, 3/32, or even 1/8 for that monster! Since it's only coiled on one side, you'll need the airflow. I have an IGO W4 on another mod running .5 and I have a hole on each side drilled to 5/64.

Ya, on my patriot I have two 3/32 under the coils. I def want to drill bigger on the RM2 but does it have any affect on squonking? I've noticed with 5/64 I get a little juice out of the hole. Wondering how worse it would be with a bigger air hole.

I have mine at 5/64 but I haven't gone below a .6 twisted 28 and it kicks like a horse.

And Timbuck, thanks for everything you do to keep us out of harms way. Your service is appreciated!

Thank you for your support brotha! I'm just worried if I drill it out anymore then I'll lose a lot of juice out of the hole. Hmm.

There will definitely be an issue squonking and leaking out of the hole. Even at 5/64, you'll have some if over-squonked. I am only at 1/16 on my RM2 and get a little out of the hole if I forget and squonk after I had already done it.

Tried to make one on an RM2, but it must've had something wrong--it read 0.0 ohms. It looked good and I feel like I followed Rip Trippers instructions. Other than I used 28 kanthal.

I'll try again, but not sure what I did wrong.

That might be where you went wrong!!!

You have a short somewhere or your meter is inaccurate. Take the top cap off and measure again, coil is probably touching the cap.

i took the measure without the top cap and i made extra sure the coil ends were not touching the base. the coil also looked really good, there weren't any overlaps as far as i could tell. i normally do 7 wraps of 28 and get around 1 ohm--so i did 3 wraps of the parallel.

i'll give it another try.

I just made my first attempt at making this coil myself, thanks for the inspiration. I love it thus far. Granted I haven't acquired the sub-ohm kit so I used 28 gauge and made 6 wraps which proved to be very tedious. It's measuring 0.68 - I just hope that won't be too low for my stock grand to handle.

note to self: purchase the sub-ohm kit... if only it was paypal only and I didn't have to sign for my package.
