I made a coil for my Reomizer 2.0 that works well on my Reo Mini 2.1, but when I take that same RBA and screw it on to my Reo Grand it doesn't perform as well. On my Reo Grand it's like the voltage is too high or something, it starts to taste dry right away and I don't get as much vapor and flavor.

I have two Reo Grands, one is four years old the other is brand new and the same thing happens on both. I have tried old batteries, brand new batteries, different coils one with one more rap and others with different sized mandrel and number of raps and various wire gauges. Nothing I do will make my Reo Grand perform as well as my Reo Mini 2.1 and it's driving me mad!

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

Can anyone help me solve this mystery?

If you have a multimeter you could check the voltage levels across the coil. Its likely that there will be some difference, as the smaller battery in the Reo mini is likely to have more sag in battery voltage with the same load.
As you know what you like you can use the heat flux value in steam engine, its a good indication of the temperature of the coil. Then you should be able to build a suitable coil for use on the grand.

You might ask the question here... REO Technical Issues/Shop Talk

You may get the answer you are looking for. It might also help to provide all vital info and pics of all your devices and atty's. Info such as what atty, wire gauge and type, wraps, wicking, and such. As to the Reo's, what contacts are in the devices? When was the last time you cleaned them? have you checked voltage drop in the device? Is your feed pin tight in all of them? These are only a few questions that will be asked for you to provide info for when the problem is being diagnosed...

sounds like you prefer the lower wattage output from reo mini, usually caused by a higher voltage drop, i dont own a reo, but here's what you can try doing:

1) stop cleaning the contacts on reo grand
2) add wraps or increase the coil diameters
3) use a battery with higher voltage sag, usually higher capacities batteries have more voltage sag
