This was a PM I received from an e-smoker wondering if cartomizers were right for him and his wife. I'm not a sales guy, I just like to share things I like, and talk about myself. :D :D So I shared my story with him, and I hope that helps him make up his mind.

But, I though I'd post the PM, and my response to it here. Maybe you guys can also share your stories about why you decided to go with disposable cartomizers, and V4L in particular. I left out his name, of course, but maybe he'll step up and join the conversation.

Wife and I really like our 401s but lately we seem to be losing automatic batteries so I've been looking at V4L. I like the idea of long-lasting battery and not cleaning the atomizers constantly but I can't seem to find a broke-down photo of these cartomizers and see how they work. Also, we've spent a lot of money in our five months vaping and don't have much money to experiment with in regard to trying a new style and your starter kits are a bit expensive for us. I wouldn't want to switch unless I felt pretty confident.
The idea of throwing away an atomizer seems crazy so we would be refilling I'm sure. Just not sure if I want to have us make the jump to two-piece style. From what I've read, your customer support is great. Help me decide.

Well, I'm not on the sales side of the house. So let me just tell you my story and experience with disposable cartomizers and with V4L, instead, OK?

I used to think the same thing. After getting used to reuseable atomizers, I thought it was crazy to design one to be thrown away so quickly. But I changed my tune pretty rapidly once I actually tried one. :D

My first disposable atomizer model was the LoongTotem v9, and it totally blew away every e-cig I had ever tried before it in terms of vapor production and cartridge duration. It put out more vapor than anything I had ever tried before, even large atomizer types like the e-pipe. My concerns about throwing away atomizers were totally forgotten. Who cared with that much vapor, and a full pack's worth of smoking in each cartomizer?? Besides, as I learned, they are refillable, and once I had the technique down, I could keep one cartridge going for a week. My record is 17 days on one cartomizer!

But the downside was that the batteries were really awful, and the liquid had almost no flavor or throat kick.

A few months after that, Steve, the owner and president of Vapor4Life sent me some of his Vapor King model (which was a KR808D-1) to try, and I absolutely LOVED it. :D All the vapor of the LTv9, with great batteries, tons of flavor, and lots of throat kick.

I did a review on my blog, which generated so much interest that not only did Steve sell out his entire stock, but several other retailers, including the big boy on the block, Smoke 51 (who I had been getting my LTv9s from) decided to switch from the v9 to the KR808D-1.

Flash forward a few months, Steve and I had become friends, and he asked me to hook him up with a Thai artist friend of mine to manufacture more of the lanyards that Nui had made for me for Steve to stock at Vapor4Life, and he wanted to call it the Leaford Lanyard. I wanted it to be better than it was, though, before allowing anyone to carry them with my name on them, so Steve flew me to Thailand to work with Nui and change the lanyard from a simple leather sleeve into something optimized for e-cigs and e-cig users.

That's Steve's level of commitment to quality. He wants his products to be the best, and will do whatever it takes to make them the best.

That experienced proved two things to me. First, Steve's sincerity about quality, like I said above. And Second, that I wanted to be a part of that. That's why I joined V4L, and that's why Steve sent me here, to China, to help improve the Vapor King even more.

Already, in the short time I've been here, I've managed to improve cartridge duration by 20%, from just under 3/4 of a pack, to about a full pack's worth of e-smoking. I've increased vapor levels across the board, and decreased the breaking in period most of the cartridges used to require before hitting their full vapor production. ANd I've stopped production on one batch of carts with messed up threads, and two others with bad flavors.

Plus, I am developing an entirely new and unique battery model, which will become the our totally exclusive model, the VK-1, instead of the old KR808D-1.

I don't know if my story will help you choose V4L, but I hope it will, because we'd LOVE to have you along for the ride!

My wife and I puffed on a 401 style unit for about 3 weeks before switching to V4L Cartomizers. The unit I had was the M702 style, which uses 401 carts. After a couple days of having cartomizers, here's what I've found.

1. Refilling is easier, because you're not trying to get 6 little drops into a tiny little cartridge.
2. New cartridges and refilled cartridges last a LOOOONG time. I'd go through 5 401 carts per day... I've burned through 2 complete carts since we got these.
3. Batteries last a loooong time. Went to the bar Saturday night, we were there about 4 hours, puffing on the standard batts. Mine did die about 1/2 hour before closing time, but 3 1/2 hours of puffing at a bar wasn't too bad.
4. I purchased a flavor that I ended up not liking. I cleaned the cartridges and refilled them with liquids that I already had for my m702.... the flavors are amazing! Much better flavor than I had with the super-mini's.
5. No leaks and no liqui-mouth! After puffing on these for 2 straight days... not once has my wife or I had liquid in our mouth, on our hands, or behind my ear (from putting it there while on standby). That makes it worth it for me all by itself!

Here's the negative that I've found.

It's big. Not ridiculous big, but definately bigger than the 401 style that I had. They're wider, and longer than my previous units, and heavier too. Then again, you can't expect something that's the same size and weight to last longer, so I'm just getting used to it. I can still stick it behind my ear, so no big deal.

I don't think you'll be unhappy if you make the switch, JM2C.

I'll add my story too....First got the 501 and it got me off cigs, after almost 40 years! But as time went by I became increasingly frustrated at all the 'fussing' that went into getting a decent vape.Tired of the dripping, all the different fillers to try and the leaking etc.
Decided to try the VK from V4L and my 510 has been gathering dust since then. The VK lasts so much longer [battery wise], easier to refill, taste is awesome and the customer service is outstanding! Try it and you will love it!

why would you remove the customers name and write "I left out his name, of course,", like it's a matter of respect, but then leave in the name of the units?

Seems like taking advantage of a chance to take a shot at a competitor and quite disrespectful. The conversation would have carried on just fine to others if it was edited out and left as 401s.

FlipnOut, just so you know, the m702 is not a 401 it is a PCC and the batteries in it are an 803 not a 401. Owning both 401s and the 702 i can tell you there is quite a difference in performance between the two.

Anyone who wants to have a fit about those comments feel free but don't expect a response, other than those who they are directed to, as they are my opinion and therefore simply a statement and not a reason for debate.

As to the original topic and the person who asked the initial question. Yes if your main concern is ease of use the cartomizers definitely win out in that category.

I started vaping back in May (09). I have also used a slew of different ecigs (or PV if you prefer) and after several months fell in love with the 801, for cart size, battery life, and the vapor production (the most I have EVER had with any model). The biggest problem I had with the 801 was for whatever reason the atomizers died on me about once per week. That's $10 a week just for the atomizer. I finally decided I needed a different direction to go.

I found the 808D about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Battery life on the standard bats is as good as I've seen. Better than the 801 battery even though they are about the same size. The carto's on the 808 last much longer than the 801, but the vapor production is a little less than the 801 (not enough to bother me though). Flavor is better on the 808.

My opinion is, you would be happy switching. I know I am glad I switched, and I never thought I'd find anything close to my 801. Biggest problem I have is wanting to try all the different flavors!!
