The cool thing about DIY is that recipes generally don't change except for the flavoring. So, a weird mix result can be fixed most of the time by adding something else to counter or enhance the flavor result.
The key is to wait for steeping to complete before playing with the result. Some of my nasty tasting juices on day one have turned into keepers after daily shaking and exposure to light for a week or two.
I used to notice that with vendor juices. If it's off when you get it, set it aside, shake it up, and try it again in a few days. Just keep enough steeped juice around to vape while you wait.
Just my opinion, but I always attributed flavor variances in vendor juices to be associated with how long they've sat and steeped before they are shipped. I suspect that they run out at times and have to mix and ship the same day.
