Today I decided to dust off the cheap SQuape clone I bought from fasttech and see if I could make it vape.
Mine was their first offering that came with the PC tank. I had initially done some drilling with moderate success, but by the 2nd build the base had shorted for reasons unknown and could not be used. FT graciously sent another one, which also shared the same terrible draw as the original base, and so to the shelf to collect dust it went.
So earlier today, I brought it with me to the vape shop where my wife is the store mananger....the same store that recently acquired a fancy new drill press and a fresh set of Irwin Turbomax drill bits.
After removing the positive 510 screw, I drilled the center air hole (under the coil) to 5/64". I then drilled the 510 air hole to 1/16" and continued drilling through it to make another 1/16" hole on the other side.
My intention for the SQuape was always to put it on a regulated device, so I put an 5/64" microcoil, 8 wraps of 29ga, for @ 1.6Ω
And guess what? The SQuape Vapes! No leaks, good flavor, good vapor. And quite honestly, I think it looks pretty boss sitting on my MVP with a shorty drip tip.
