Good Morning everybody,

I have been vaping for about 2 years now and have been wanting to drill air holes into one of my current rda's the past couple months. I would like to have one to chuck some clouds with. I have been nervous to drill any holes as I didn't want to screw anything up. I have seen a couple custom mods to a couple with larger air holes as well as a couple additions to it in a spiral patteran. My 2 current rda's that I love (can't seem to pick a favorite) are the mephisto and the plumeveil. I would like to utilize one of them as my cloud maker. My question is any suggestions on the process. I have been researching and looking for youtube videos, most of them being mods to the patriot. Judging by the air holes stock size, the mephisto is about 3/32" and the plumeveil is 5/64". From my research, I noticed most people saying they only went as big as 1/16" which is less than their stock size. I was thinking about drilling a couple holes spiraling from the air hole. My question is, how many holes and sizes would be in my favor on either of these rda's? I also was considering drilling out a wider bore in my drip tip. Any suggestions/tips/etc would be greatly appreciated.

Whatever size you decided to drill, just make sure to start smaller than you think you need and USE A DRILL PRESS.

Practice on your cheaper atty first, don't .... up your nice one. Use some rubber or leather or a cloth as padding in the vice of the drill press so you don't mar your atty's finish.

If you don't have a drill press, and you can't find someone who will let you use theirs, go to Harbor Freight or look them up online because you can get small table top drill presses that will work for what you want to do on the cheap.

This 8" drill press is $77 with shipping. You cold probably find one even cheaper on Craigslist in your area too.

if your use of power tools is proficient you can use a cordless drill and a bench vise use the lower setting most drills have 2 settings and keep the bit level , buying a bench press my be a waste of money cause to get a press that has a low rpm will cost big bucks most are set for woodworking which turn at a much faster speed then a vise for the press is another cost i made my own vise and table and still spent 400 but i wanted to do both metal and wood

Cobalt bits can be picked up at many big box home stores for not too much money (especially for the sizes needed for drilling out air holes).

I was successful using a 1/16" bit and a nice cordless drill, however I was just widening a hole that was already there. I could see a press being useful if you're creating new holes from scratch.

Either way you should be fine as long as you're careful.
