My Story! New and craving info!

Hello everyone! My name is Erin and I'm new to ECF. I'd like to share my story. I had my first cigarette at the age of 13. I didn't really start smoking until I was 18 but once I really started I smoked a pack a day on and off for 15 years almost. I tried to quit multiple times, with an array of items touted as the best way to quit and never really succeeded. It wasn't until the military moved my then husband, the kids and I to Panama City, Florida and I started working at a local doctor's office that I learned of vaping. The owner of a locally owned vape shop was a patient and she always came in with a mod. I expressed interest and she sat and explained everything to me. The following week I went in to her and her husband's shop and they set me up with and Evod pen style starter kit. I did great for 5 months! Not a single cigarette! Then the bottom fell out. We were getting ready to move to Michigan, life got stressful and I got weak. I started smoking again. I smoked for over a year up until 6 weeks ago. I'm currently working as an EMT but I'm also in Paramedic school. During my clinical shifts at the hospital lately I've been seeing a lot of patients coming in with difficulty breathing, COPD etc etc etc. They all had a history of smoking and almost all of them ended up having to be intubated and on a breathing machine. This was the catalyst behind me quitting! How scary for them! How scary for their families! I don't want to go through that and I certainly don't want to put my family through that. So, here I am, 6 weeks later and I haven't touched a cigarette. I went out and upgraded to a mod and I'm researching and learning as much as I possibly can! I'm currently using an MVP iTaste with a KangerTech Aerotank Mega and I'm pretty happy. I'm looking to upgrade to a rebuildable but I'm still researching. Maybe a kayfun? I'm hooked and determined to not fall off the wagon this time! I'm 33 years old, divorced and I have three kids! Time to get healthy!

I wish ecigs had been around when I was 33 :sneaky:
I wish they had been around when I was 16 and just starting to smoke. Ah well.... At least I have found them and have been cigarette free for over 2 years now. :D

Thank you all for the warm welcome and words of encouragement! I have faith I won't fail this time! I won't soon forget the fear in my patients' faces when the doctor pushed the paralytic to paralyze their lungs so that I could put a breathing tube in to their lungs. That's why I'm here! That's why I won't quit! I can't wait to learn from you all!!!!

My first rebuildable tank was the kracken but the rsst is about the same just single coil. I now drip on a darkhorse but go back to the kracken every now and then. Keep it up I know its hard. I fell off of the Wagon a few times but now I'm where cigarettes don't fix the cravings. The biggest thing for me was getting enough vape to not need a cig. The kracken did that better then the kanger on a vv mod. I recommend 28 gage with a 5 wrap to start on a good mech mod. Keep us posted on where your going and how its working for you!

Can you have too many mods?

You can, although here in the UK, we are worried that by 2016 many items won't be legal to buy anymore.

Since the iStick arrived, I've not really used evic, vamo, MVP... they have become back-ups. (for when the iStick dies, which is kind of inevitable...)

Thanks for all the great advice guys! Why would they become illegal in the UK?

We are battling the powers that want to protect the pharmaceutical companies interests in meds that don't work. The BP (big pharma) want vaping to go away. They want to push the patches, gum, chantix... you know..those things that don't work but you keep buying and hoping that this time they will. :sneaky:

We are having to fight even in this country to keep it a viable method and not get restricted to the point that it is no longer cost efficient to use.

The UK just had a huge battle that vapers lost. In a few years their usage will be severely restricted.

If you really are interested in what is going on... please check out this section of the forum: FDA Regulations

You can also find more information at: CASAA - The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association

Welcome to the Forum :)

I have hope that we will prevail. :nun:

my beautiful Nan died because of smoking I watched her take every last labored breath so here I am with you. Avoiding dying that way so my children or grandchildren (when they are finally born) will never watch me die like that. xx

The Kayfun lite was my first rebuildable. I watched a lot of review videos and that one seem the easiest and most forgiving. Other then the bottom fill port I couldn't be happier. It holds so much liquid though. Fill it before I leave the house and don't usually need to refill.
I would suggest a Mod that can handle anything you might use in the future. I have lots of batteries around that wont go down to .5 Ohms. I never thought I would be anywhere near 1 ohm but here am I today with a Kanger subtank that I can't enjoy to it's fullest. Until the Sigelei arrives anyway.
