My Story! New and craving info!

The Kayfun lite was my first rebuildable. I watched a lot of review videos and that one seem the easiest and most forgiving. Other then the bottom fill port I couldn't be happier. It holds so much liquid though. Fill it before I leave the house and don't usually need to refill.
I would suggest a Mod that can handle anything you might use in the future. I have lots of batteries around that wont go down to .5 Ohms. I never thought I would be anywhere near 1 ohm but here am I today with a Kanger subtank that I can't enjoy to it's fullest. Until the sigelei arrives anyway.

Really great info Jockamo! I was torn between the Kayfun and the Kanger subtank because I REALLY like my Kanger Aerotank Mega. I've had really good luck with it and when I found out Kanger came out with a RBA I figured I would have good luck with it. What I didn't know (being a noobie and all) was that it won't work with my MVP mod. I'm not really in the market for a new mod right now as I just purchased my MVPs. So..........Now to decide whether to forego the Kanger subtank for now or spring for a Hana and a Kanger Subtank? UGH!

This is one of the smartest posts I've read. The op is generally trying to learn. It takes a bit of trial and error and if you really want to be successful you need to learn about ohms coils resistance etc. Sure you can continue to pay someone to do it for you ie build your coils etc, but the more you learn the more self sufficient you become...and the more money you save....

I was all about Kanger also and when the sub tank came out I had to have it.
The kayfun and sub tank are very different in the way you use it. The builds are about the same but the sub tank is very "airy" while the kaufun is more mouth to lung. I have both the kayfun on an istick and the sub tank on a sigeleli right in front of me.
Right now I like the kayfun better but I'm getting used to the more airy draw of the sub tank. Even with the airflow on one hole it's twice as much air as the kayfun.
I would get a a good mod pv battery (whatever we are calling it) and a kayfun to practice building coils. It will be closer to the kanger tanks(in terms of air flow) with much better vapor and flavor.

Hey! I'm looking into the same mod. They just came out with the iTaste MVP 20W. It's an upgrade to the original MVP 2. It has an ohm reader and several other new features. I've been doing my homework. I am still in the EVOD/EGO stage. I do have a Kangertech Aerotank V2, and it's sweet. I picked up a Vision Spinner II VV battery, but this tank is kind of big. Looks goofy and sits top heavy. I get paid in another week and then I'm going to pick up an MVP. I seen the prices online range from $39.99 at Smoke Tech, up to $79.99 on other vape sites. I am leary to spend this money, but in order to get a better experience... I'm going to upgrade. I'm actually bored with these Ego batteries. The Vision VV Battery, goes dead fast! I vape a lot! I am vaping 24mg Halo Tribeca, good stuff. My neighbor has COPD. She smoked 100's all her life. Now, I see her on the porch with oxygen on her face. Even when she goes in the car, she takes a portable tank. I smoked 2 packs a day for 11 years. Bad habit, I picked up overseas (Army). I never smoked in school. I am not craving a cigarette, which is a good thing. I look forward to clean vaping future! I just hope the FDA doesn't mess things up. All these new regulations and stuff. Anyway, have a great holiday season. Thanks for sharing your story.

The specs of the MVP look similar to the istick. Neither will fire below 1 ohm(the MVP is .9 I think). I used the Subtank with the 1.2 ohm coil and the istick. It leaves a lot to be desired. So the short answer is no.
I believe there is more going on then the wattage spec of a given device. I seems some limit the max discharge rate of the battery so even at 20 watts they seem a little weak. I would go for a minimum 50 watt device before entering the sub ohm world. at least your not maxing out a device when running it in the 25-35 watt range.
The istick works great for a traveling device with my kayfun. With a 1.5 ohm coil and 10-15 watts it will last me most of the day. Maybe 8ml of liquid on a single charge. If that was the only device I had I would be happy.

Erin -

First of all, congratulations on your quitting the analogs. We're super happy to count you among us as vapers :)

I think the KFL+ is a great first stop for rebuilding. It is where I started as well. It will take a little time to get the hang of it, but once you do it is like riding a bicycle. I would suggest watching a few videos on how to make microcoils for it and make yourself a list of supplies. You'll need wicking material, something to wrap your coil around, and some screwdrivers, at the very least. The video will give you ideas on what you will want to use so you can buy it ahead of time.

Look for a mod that fires down to .4 and .5 ohms for something that is compatible with a Kanger Subtank. When I was shopping for devices, I usually looked at Phil Busardo's reviews (tasteyourjuice.com) as he goes in depth into how well devices perform at different ohms and under different loads. He's got super-long reviews, so if you don't want to spend hours looking at different devices, just scroll to the last 5 minutes or so of his videos for his thumbs up/thumbs down section where he gives an overview of all the things he thinks are good/bad with a given device. Of course, he hasn't reviewed all devices yet, but even just watching his reviews will help you learn what you like best or want to avoid the most when purchasing your new mod.

If you want to buy an authentic KFL+, I think they are worth the money, but if you are not sure that you'll like the Kayfun that much or you want to buy something more budgetary, the EHPro KFL+ v2 clones are excellent and perform near as well as the real thing. I bought one of those first, and then 2 KFL+ v2 authentics shortly following because I liked it so much.

Honestly, the Kanger Subtank looks like a decent atty but I don't think you'll want it as much once you start rocking your Kayfun... Additionally, if you are looking for a volume vapor experience, I highly recommend the eLeaf Lemo. It's basically a KFL+ clone with a few tweaks for giant airflow. Flavor is a little less than a KFL+ but again it's more for pushing lots of vapor. Only $40ish USD, too.

Best of luck to you in your vaping journey. Feel free to PM me if you have any follow up questions.

Congrats! 3 weeks here on a Naut Mini! Stay with it. 15 years@ 2 packs a day for me. I quit for 10 months last year with patches, but I missed the feel of smoke in my throat and something in my hand. This portable nebulizer I call it, fits in my pocket, and lasts all day. I'm vaping 18% Nicotine now and don't even crave a cigarette when I have a beer ;) Larger battery is the next step for me...

Hope to see you around on the Forum!
