So I received a new Plume Veil a couple of days ago and just got around to building it today. I had previously gone through my new atty cleaning ritual the day before: hot water scrub with dishwashing soap, alcohol soak, hot water clean and soak. I built out a 0.4 ohm dual coil build with 26 gauge Kanthal and organic cotton, dripped some juice and fired it up with my (new also) Turtleship mod. Aaand ACK, crappy machine oil taste!!!

My new atty cleaning ritual has been working fine for me, for the most part, but something definitely wasn't right here. I had never done the new atty boiling thing before, hadn't felt I needed it and always had a hard time taking the o rings off, but I was determined to get my new Plume to work. And, hey, while I'm at it, why don't I go ahead and clean all 10 of my other attys?

So started taking apart all of my attys, removed the o rings, one by painful one, and putting them into separate bags per rda and labeled them. Finally I'm ready to go, so I fill a pot with water and start heating it up until it boils. My wife has this metal tray with holes that fans out, used in pots to steam veggies and stuff, so I place all my atty parts on them and place it in the pot of boiling water with the water covering them (didn't want the attys to rest on the bottom of the pot - wasn't sure if the heat from the stove would affect them or not, didn't want to take the chance). Added some dishwashing soap and let it boil for about 30 min, adding water if the level started to drop and expose atty parts.

After the boiling, poured the soapy boiling water with the parts into a large bowl in the sink, then started running hot water to it until all the soap was cleared out. Then started drying all of the parts with a towel, putting them together (without o rings) just to have all the parts identified and placed with the correct atty.

When I was done, after 2 hours of work, took all this mess back up to my bedroom, but decided just to put the Plume Veil back together to test. Re-wicked it (still had the same coils from before), juiced it, then fired it up. ..., same crappy machine oil taste!!!

At this point I was pretty frustrated and was about to throw the Plume Veil against the wall. Then it hit me - the drip tip was new also. And I had forgotten to clean it.:facepalm: I took another drip tip from one of my clearos, just to test, and boom! Great gods of vapor bless me!

Anyway, Moral of the Story: I am an idiot.

Yep, lesson learned! And, as Avid said, my attys have never been cleaner! Think I might add the the boiling thing to my new atty ritual - getting the effing o rings off (breaking many in the process) was the main reason I didn’t do it in the past, but got a LOT of practice last night, so I'm pretty good at it now.

Def. not an Idiot. We all have those moments.

I had vaped off a rather yuck e-liquid just to get rid of it. Went to rewick for something better. Stripped old wicks, hot rinsed there RDA good and wiped things down. Dry burned and installed new Cellucotton.
Soaked it up good in Juicy peach and..................... Yuck E-liquid, Same as the last one.
After rechecking everything and Smelling the e-liquid on the wicks - Great Juicy Peach aroma - I realized the same as you. I had sat the drip tip aside after a quick rinse(Before the water got hot) Swapped in another tip and thankfully all was good to go.

I'm thinking this is one of those easy mistakes to make.

Edit: Note of caution. If any Drip Tips might be Plastic, not real acrylic - Careful on the HOT water soak. It will deform them.
