So after deciding mesh is the best for my use I found it did not fit well in the regular or mini viva novas, did a couple of builds with just nubs.

Then I started to try and make u shape wicks, saw some vids online and really liked the one by Scubatabdan (spelling?). Since I didn't have wire like him I just used kanthal. I found that 25mm by 25mm makes a wick that fits nice and snug Once I have it rolled tight and it fits, I then put kanthal wire through to bend into the shape. When it is shaped correctly I twist the kanthal wire together so it will stay like that, then I oxidize over the stove and quench three times. Then I use juice about three times to oxidize. After all this I cut the kanthal wire and pull it through. It then holds it shape very well and I build a coil.

I made a second one right after this and it worked even better, made it even more u shaped so they would lay directly against the heads.

Just wanted to make a post in case anyone else is interested. This way worked really well and was super easy.:vapor:

Thanks for this. I've been researching SS Mesh with the VVN's for a week or so now. I found that same vid by scuba (spell that!) and now I just have to find where to buy some mesh.

I believe I bought mine from Stormys Vapor Cellar (400) Stainless Steel Mesh 400 - $4.99 : Stormys Vapor Cellar, Electronic Cigarettes & More

I found another site I will probably ordered from next, appears better price OKC Vapes - Oklahoma's Premier Supplier of Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid, and Accessories!

Also I see a lot of people order from the mesh company and they are from the uk. You can also get 500 mesh, instead of 400. The Mesh Company (Warrington) Ltd #400 Super Fine Filtration Mesh - 25 Micron

From what I have read you want 400 or 500 mesh. I have read, and the 500 mesh thread has shown, that 500 mesh will work the best for capillary action, which is what happens in genesis type atomzers. I have switched to using mesh in my novas, which is what I put that u shape wick for in the first post.

EDIT: So far I am using 25 mm by 25 mm for my nova wicks, I may go a little longer especially for the 3.5 ml tanks. I am using about 42 mm long by 45 mm wide for the wick in my Cobra RBA. I may try a wider one but it can get harder making it small enough to fit in the wick hole.

I tried this myself great flavor and vapor. But a word of advice to others only do this on a version 2.5 vivi nova. I tried it on a version 2 with the longer head and it left a gap between The silicone cap and where the wick rested on the head and all my juice drained out. worked great on a version 2.5

I used 25mm x 40mm the first I did this and then just cut the ends a little at an angle to make them fit (probably ended up being about 37mm)

And if you want to use a ticker wick, you can always drill a little hole at the bottom of the slit in the head and it will allow a thicker wick (which works better) and won't crimp the wick at all.
