I would ask her if she could honestly look at a person who is at serious risk of developing lung cancer and try to tell them that it is a sin to try to save themselves or better their chances by quitting smoking.
If she has ever inhaled the steam from tea or coffee then she is no better or worse than a vaper. It is still a steam/vapour containing a stimulant. As for the other ingredients they are ALL found in everyday foods and steam from food is also vapour. I always carry a bottle of food flavouing in my hand bag for such people, I bought it at my local supermarket in the baking aisle.
Its ingredients are: propylene glycol, glycerine, water, flavouing, colour 155 -- Been in production and use for 100+ years (it says so right on the lable)
while they are reading this I tell them the ingredients used in e-cigs: propylene glycol, glycerine, water, flavouing(and explain that it IS food grade), nicotine is OPTIONAL
Then I go onto explain some of the other common uses for PG/VG, smoke machines, inhalers, sterilizing air in hospitals etc... and you can even wipe VG inside your freezer to make defrosting easier because its a food safe antifreeze. Nicotine on its own is not a carcinogen that is why the nicotine replacements do not carry the same health warnings as cigarettes.
I find this method answers their questions and addresses their fears and any scare mongering they may have heared. They walk away happy and so do I.
I know it is time consuming and inconveniant at times, but it really is up to us as vapers to educate the public and to do it nicely. After all we want to vape and non-vapers need to be on our side and not on the side of the tobacco/pharmaceutical industry (who DO have the money to advertise and influence decisions.)
