So I have ordered a new mod to make my Vamo V5 a backup mod and well still waiting on my fasttech order but in the mean time my V5 has entirely stopped working and I wound up having to buy a pack of cigarettes. I am very disappointed in this and will be ordering 2 more backup mods just to make sure I am never stuck in this spot again grrrrrr

I always have had backups both in batteries and tanks, etc. Getting a $20 ego blister pack would have been better than cigs. You would have a backup then.
Within the first week of my vaping I decided I needed backups and ordered more batteries. I started on the little cigalikes. I now use Egos and have 5 batteries.

:rules:

The First Rule of Vaping is, "Backups for Your Backups".

As you unfortunately learned, you can't vape if your battery dies, your battery device stops working, your tank breaks, your coil burns out, or you run out of e-liquid. Have at least two of everything you need to vape.

Don't buy a pack of cigs. Buy a mech. Your story is one reason I don't do regulated mods, never did, never will.
I agree that mechs are great and much more durable. An unregulated mod requires very specific builds, though, for a great vape. They don't work for everyone, especially if OP is using something like a clearomizer with factory-made coils.

Point well taken, however I maintain that the building skills for using mechs and RBA's are well worth acquiring given the results achievable, and you aren't dependent on anyone else for your coils, nor do you have to worry about your mod going dead on you. At least that's been my own experience.

That they don't work for everyone is evident in the fact that GrimGreen can't roll a mesh wick to save his life.

I agree with both of you. I used cartotanks almost exclusively for two years, and had no burning interest to try rebuilding. I finally got drawn in to buying a Genesis-style RTA, but that probably wasn't the best RBA to learn on. (I know you love your Gennies, Vaslovik). ;) I couldn't roll a decent mesh wick either.

Someone on ECF PIF'ed an authentic Kayfun Lite RTA for me to try. Wonderfully easy to learn on and supplied a great vape. Eventually got a RDA. Now those are all I use while my cartotanks collect dust.

Congratulations! Now you can get something good to vape with. I ordered a Vamo5 and owned it 15 minutes and it tipped over on the coffee table and it broke. They are not made very well. You have a grounding problem in the pressed fittings. Bend the mod a bit and it will likely flick back on and it will work till it bends back strait. CHEERS!

When I first started vaping, before I learned how to rebuild I would keep a set of plastic drawers that I called my "Store" I made sure to have extra batteries, coil heads and I do still have an extra battery charger. Now that I know how to build all I need is a roll of Kanthal and I have enough Japanese cotton to last me for years. I do have plenty of mods though...2 Provari's , and 2 MVP 3's. Never try to make it with just one.

I also had problems with my vamo 5 I had 2 die in the exact same way and after the frustration of having 2 die I did do what was stated above I found 2 cheap egos and some tanks and keep those around for backups and bought a authentic ragnarok mech I was also lucky enough to have some very nice people gift me a second mech so I also have that for a backup they also gifted me brand new 18350 batteries so if I ever have a problem with my ragnarok or any of my 3 18650 batteries I now have 16 18350 batteries and 4 brand new 18350s I have yet to take out of their packaging yet

I did go right from the vamo to a mech and building my own coils there are cheap authentics if you watch for sales. As long as your safe (I asked a lot of questions along the way and have no problems with electricity) you can have a decent setup
Decently cheap (just don't skimp of the batteries always buy the best you can!) and you'll be good and never try anything your not sure about one thing I've learned very quickly is there are tons of supportive people here willing to help answer your questions!

Also get yourself an ohm meter

By the time I was done I got a authentic ragnarok a ohm meter a orchid v3 clone an Aqua v2 clone a vct4 batt a charger + ... cotton and a 30 foot roll of kanthol 26g for under $120 and I'm Vaping happier than I ever did with my vamo , coil wrapping just takes practice and don't skip the ohm meter if you go the mech mod route it is your most important piece of equipment (steam engine will get you very close but nothing compares to testing it once installed on your atty)

There is nothing inherently wrong or shameful in still using an ego battery in this day and age. Collect all the mods you want, but just remember, in times like the one you experienced, a little dinky ego battery as a back up is better than going out and buying a pack of cigs, and a heckuva lot cheaper in the long run, t.

That's one of the reasons I knew I had truly quit when I got my first kit. I knew INSTANTLY this was going to work for me, and I made darn sure to get, as Baditude (our local ECF Yoda) has said, two of everything. Batteries, chargers, tanks, and juice.

Yep I always make sure I have 2 charged egos with tanks ready to go , anytime I'm doing somthing where I just don't feel safe carrying my mod around I bring te ego

And like I said even with 23 batteries in total and 2 mech mods + 3 RBAs and 2 RDAs all built and ready to go I still keep the egos ready!
