My Vape is a lot harsher when first dripping

So I accidentally got 12mg nic juice. I tried to drip it, and it felt like I was using 18 all over again; super rough. However, as the amount in my dripper lessened to a somewhat regular amount (I didn't overdrip spill-wise, but saturation wise I think I did), the vape got a lot more tolerable. Still a little rough for my taste, but I can deal with it temporarily.

I was going to throw some in my rba, but first I wanted to ask if there was a particular cause for this other than it being a fresh build with fresh cotton? Is it breaking in for the first couple vapes, or does having too much liquid cause it to vaporize in such a way that would make it harsher than usual?

I'm not into rebuilding myself (yet) but one time I was at the local vapor lounge and an employee let me hit his dripper and he told me it's a little rough because he just dripped some on it. This sounds like what you're talking about and I wondered myself why that would matter.

I'm thinking maybe if you have too much liquid for the cotton to hold, The coil actually boils/burns off excess liquid sitting on it as vaporizing what is in the cotton, thus making it harsher. Though I could be wrong.

Threw the 12mg in my RBA, as long as I pull harder than usual to get more airflow to the coil it isn't TOO bad (I don't want to adjust afc as I have my perfect draw right now, and with my kayfun 3.1 clone it uses a screw instead of preset holes)

You usually drip less than 12 mg? And you think that 12mg is harsh?

Oh wait, you're saying that since the wicks had less juice that perhaps that contributed to a less harsh vape while the liquid indeed was still 12mg?


Typically in my experience too much juice could lend itself to a more harsh vape, especially if you've submerged the coil in liquid. Then it kinda bubbles and boils and gurgles and all kind of nastyness. This situation could perhaps create a harsher vape than had you just dripped the perfect amount (which is of course, subjective).


As far as cotton breaking in... Eh? I'm not convinced it does, but some will swear that there is a break in period, probably not more than a few puffs.
