My VERY first vaping experience happened today !

Greetings,

First Vape July 1st, 2013 - Monday

I’m going to cut to the chase and skip all the technicalities of voltage setting, type of clearomizer, flavor juice….etc.

vaping was so very similar to smoking.
Here are the two MAIN differences I observed. :

1) Taste
2) Icy Cooling sensation (I'm a Menthol Smoker)

I vaped for about 10 minutes. Then went out to have ONE cigarette. I have to say I was surprised.

Taste :
For all you ‘die hard’ vapers . . . . believe me when I tell you : “YES, I do love that burnt wood (leaf) taste.”
Taste, unfortunately is what ’may’ keep me smoking cigarettes. ……..TASTE ! !
Burning tobacco is and will always be a Great Flavor to me. No wonder why smoking is done on a global scale in every culture.

Menthol Sensation :
The two methods are almost exactly alike. The main difference : The icy cool feeling - mentho-lyptus type (in smoking) was present in my whole mouth, my throat and both my lungs (yah, I still have them both). The menthol sensation was immediate and lingering. The icy cool feeling (in vaping) was present in the back of my throat and upper chest area only. The menthol sensation was not immediate (sometimes on the inhale, sometimes on the exhale and to varying degrees of strength- never consistent)...and not lingering.

This is my initial discovery upon entering the world of vaping.
Just thought (for those who are wondering) to give you an update.
I just got my kit in the mail today.
I’m not disappointed at all BUT….don’t be too quick to say to smokers :
“cigarettes are yucky, disgusting or vile tasting” . . . . cause in my opinion….
My menthol cigarettes taste great ! !

it seems your opinion of vaping has changed :) im glad to see that :D last time we spoke on your other thread you were having a hard time grasping the concept of vaping and were afraid you had wasted your money. imo a little sacrifice of flavor to be able to still smoke (vape) and have your health back is worth it everyday.

Keep us updated and any info you need we are always here to help! :vapor:

not to mention the price difference =P

Thanks Jfaria1891....

Believe it or not....I feel... it would be a VERY sad thing if the big tobacco companies developed cigarette flavors that were clones of their commercial brands. They would overtake a community (Vaping Community) that... I feel.... wishes this world was a healthier place.

History would be repeating itself. I'm sure I will try 'non-tobacco' flavors eventually but..... well, I'm not ready to give up burnt wood.

I went off tobacco flavours within a week of taking up vaping full time. Now I only vape fruit, bakery and dessert type flavours.

In fact I tried a DIY coffee flavour recently (I DIY most juices now) and to me it tasted too much like tobacco. So had to add some coconut, cream and honey to the mix - now it tastes a lot better :D

e-juice tastes OK.
To you, cigs taste OK too.

The logical (?mistake?) you are making is that you think they have to taste the same...e.g. that e-juice should taste like burning tobacco. But it doesn't anyway.

It's not like you only eat/taste one food your entire life. You taste a variety of things.

So e-juice can taste like lemon, lime, snickerdoodles, whatever. And it gives you nicotine. And it's safer than smoking.

So you pick. But if you insist on tasting tobacco every day, just because you want to. Go ahead. It will probably kill ya sooner though.

Oh, and welcome to ECF.

Hello AttyPops,

If I can get over the "hurdles" of taste and menthol hit......
Hey..... skies the limit ! !
Maybe they should come out with Broccilli, Spinach or salad flavors too.
The issue I'm trying to address is that vaping has to 'act' like a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Mimic THAT which we all are familiar with....and (like a duck decoy).....it's signed, sealed and delivered.

Just to throw in a different perspective/opinion. I dumped cigarettes about 2 weeks into vaping - and I WASN'T TRYING TO QUIT SMOKING.

After starting (on a Joyetech 510/carto kit) I realized over those couple weeks that cigarettes did NOT TASTE AS GOOD to me as vaping. I was going to get my nic fix either way, and I preferred going to the little black stick over the little white stick, because TO ME, it simply had a better taste.

I still vape mostly tobacco flavors - with a little kick, like vanilla in it, or an RY4...

I'd been smoking over 40 years, over a PAD.

So clearly, that's just an individual thing!

I am waiting for my first ever electronic cig to arrive in the post. I really hope it arrives tomorrow. I have smoked 20 cigarettes a day for the last 26 years, time has come for me to stop smoking. Its now or never.........

I ordered two bottles of tobacco flavoured e-juice. In my head I had decided to only ever use tobacco flavoured e-juice, but after reading so many amazing stories & peoples different experiences on this forum I reckon that I will try a few different flavours.

It seems like loads of die hard smokers like myself start off thinking tobacco flavoured e-juice is the only one they will like. But people seem to get more adventurous once they get used to vaping.

I just can't wait for my kit to arrive. I'm REALLY keen to get started now........

Hello Train2,

I'm glad you kicked the "ashtray habit".... I really am.
I'm glad for everyone that has done that same thing.

I want you to know something :
I TOO want to be where you are at..... I TOO want to break the cycle.... but
I'm not that strong.... that's the truth.
I crave for that cigarette every day..... I don't hate smoking but I hate the effects of it.
I absolutely love smoking.
Creating a cigarette-like flavor isn't the triumph of vaping.
People who quit smoking is the triumph. We all have our "vices"..... I'm sure you agree.
I just wish I had a 'healthier' vice.

I understand what you are saying.... and I hope to one day be where you are.

Thanks

The reason for the difference could very well be your juice. My Newport flavor leaves a lingering menthol in my mouth, but I don't feel it so much in my lungs, and that may just be the way it is; it's my understanding that vapor doesn't penetrate the lungs as deeply as smoke.

But yeah, try different menthol juices along your journey and you may find one that hits you just right. It also depends on the analogs you smoke; Newports and some other brands don't really leave a lingering menthol like Marb or Camel menthols do.. at least in my experience, I smoked Newports for a long time.

Sent from my phone, please excuse typos.

I understand you, I think. The wife has always preferred the tobacco flavors. However, over time, I have to add a little more cotton candy to the blend about every 60 mils. She now also like grape. You never know how this will turn out, but when I compare a really good flavor to my memory of those dirty ash trays, my new fruity and Danish flavors really do take a front seat. Personally, I didn't smoke because I loved the flavor of smokes. I did not realize this at the time. I liked smoking. After vaping for a while, on and off, since 2009, I think there are better options. You like what you like, but the taste buds do come back and do change over time, and you can't really exactly replicate that tobacco taste anyway. Also, if you're on the fence, many vapers say it's easier for them to drop the analogs completely by adopting a fruit, or other flavor, and their ADV. Most important thing is to keep vaping!

23 year smoker 2 packs+ a day Marlboro's.

Today makes 100 DAYS of vaping without ciggs at all.

MR Twenty years plus i perfectly understand what you are saying. i have after reading this thread counted my TOBACCO 30ml bottles and i am afraid to say i have 41 bottles of e-juice chasing that Marlboro flavor that never seemed to come.

Here is the funny part: At about day 60 i gave up the chase because i realized two things.

1) i actually enjoyed and liked 20 of the bottles i have even though they are not the one i was looking for !!!!!
2) The Chase itself kept me believing and going until i realized wow its been over two months since i have had a cig.

Results: Busy Mail Man, alot of you tube and other videos, ecf, and smoking in the HOUSE and CAR without wife yelling at me (Also enjoyable)

Because i cant just Give up, i now have started DIY juice (GOT TO SAVE) the other 21 bottles that stuff is expensive LOL
