Here ya go, as promised:

14500 batteries
LED Display from E-bay Mini Lithium Battery Digital Voltmeter DC 3.3v - 17V Blue LED Small Panel Meter | eBay
LM2596HV from E-bay New LM2596HV LM2596S DC-DC Step Down CC-CV Adjustable Power Supply Module | eBay
2 AA battery holder (with switch) E-bay

The cct board is insulated from the tin using an old bank card. The battery housing is notched so the cct board nestles underneath slightly

This is only my "test piece".
I want to incorporate a touch sensor (not a tac switch). Any advice on this will be gratefully received
I will also want to use more compact batteries: eg 2x 18350 or flat li-po so I can have the tank inside the case. If I could fashion a smaller battery holder (minus springs etc) they'd just fit horizontally and solve this issue
Still got to figure a way of making the VV dial easy to use.

Thanks to the people on here, especially on BJ45's LM thread (& of course BJ)

How did you wire the switch on these improved boards?

Eidikos, it couldn't be simpler & no sooner said than done.

Close_up_cct.jpg

On the attached image:
Left of the board - battery inputs, marked +IN -IN
Right hand side - Atty outputs, Marked +OUT -OUT. +ve goes to centre pin of 510 connector. I have piggy backed the Volt meter onto these terminals so it only shows output voltage.
You cant see the +OUT wires in this photo as they're covered by the switch wires (see below)
In the middle of the photo there's 2 red wires, these are my flying leads to the 'fire' button (Tac switch)

The board is now mounted at a slight angle so access to the potentiometer is easier. There's also a plastic tube force fitted on this.
The tube is from a BIC biro, none of the non-brand ones I had fitted. It needs opening up slightly - I poked another pen's tip in it. I fitted it, then heated the finger end with a lighter & squashed it with a pair of pliers. That makes it easy to turn

Hey Jalrabate, slip the tank into the box as well.

Please don't post any other flavours of Altoids on here, only the mints ;)

Didja know all the flavours are made in the UK? But, we can only buy the Mints in the UK, none of the Wintergreen etc :'(

I'm now working on a stealth Wrigley's Extra Ice Mints mod. It's gonna have a 13600 from a broken "Tornado style" mod and a DCT all in the pack. Only the mouthpiece will protude. Tin size is 32 x 19 x 80
