I just got a RSST as well and put a ceramic wick on it and some ribbon kanthal and it was ok but on my 2nd try I used stainless steel rope with a sleeve of xc-116 ceramic wick on it and lets just say its a foggy night in San Francisco tonight Picture0049.jpg.

I haven't seen this set-up before but seems to work great. Its 1/32 XC-116 Ceramic Wick Kiln Treated over 3/32" Diameter 316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope 7 X 7 Strand Core, . Kind of tricky 2 get the xc-116 over the SS cable but not that hard. Came up with this Idea a while back and think its pretty good for my 2nd rba. Give it a try. Picture0048.jpgPicture0050.jpg

ok, after last nights fiasco, I was getting a metal taste so I tried again. Got a nice 1.5 ohm on my first try and is working excellent. I did a little more watching on youtube and tried something a little different. I don't think I was oxidizing my wick near enough. I oxidized it this time until it was black. also, once I wrapped my coils onto the wick, i oxidized the coils and wick together just a bit. fired up, moved one coil and away she went. I really think my initial problems were because i rushed through the wick building part and didn't take enough time to really get a good wick to start.....or.....maybe just luck, but I'm in vape heaven now. WoW!

Just spent 5 hours building a wick and coil for a new aga t2. first time trying and finally got a working setup. definitely not the best, but vapor comes out, so I will take it. will try again tomorrow, and hopefully it gets easier!!

Good job op!

It will get better and once you find the sweet spot you'll be in love. Good luck mate!

Im on the learning curve aswell, picked up an RSST and dived straight in, got it wrong twice now but its getting better everytime, also helps that mesh and wire is cheap so it does not really hurt if i get it wrong.

Too true, wire and mesh aren't expensive so it makes it easy to tinker and if something just goes bad tear it off and start again. Good luck and have fun.

Do any of you vapers use a "kick", "crown", or anything else on your mechanicals.
I have IMR18650's and IMR18350's batteries that I use in my vamos, but the mechanical is new to me.
I've got a K100 and before I try it, I want to make sure I've got the right stuff.
I'm told if I use a safe guard like that I will need a IMR18500, otherwise it won't fit.
So .. is it safe to use what I have?
Do I need a safeguard of some kind?
Any suggestion on how to get started ?
Thanks for any info.

nice, took me a couple days and probably a 3ft roll of wire or trial & error as I'll call it lol but dayum, once the coil and wick were broken in and the throat burn and nasty hits went away, it was amazing. since then sold all my VV mods and wick tanks to stock up on mechanicals and rba supplies :) haven't turned back yet and don't plan to

If you want to start on an easy rebuildable atty, i cant think of anything easier than the Igo-L (not the small).

Get some cotton (peaches and cream cotton yarn from walmart)
cannibalize the wire out of a cartomizer (or buy a roll, its cheap)
wrap the coil around a 1/8th screwdriver or drill bit and connect it to the poles.
Thread the yarn, doubled up closed end first, (about 1.5 inches) through the coil
close it up (make sure the airhole is right next to the coil) then drip about 10 drops into it and vape!
point the airhole up or you'll leak on yourself though.

If your building a atomizer or coil you should get a ohm meter if you go to low battery damage can happen. The kick and crown have protection but a short can damage even them.

That's easy?

Just buy the proper materials from a good vender. kanthal wire and wick is inexpensive and you don't need to rip apart any thing to get it. the former post is not easy its just cheep.

"Point the air hole up or you'll leak on yourself." ?
What?

I could point you to some venders if you want.
Sorry njo7 don't mean to dis. you but that's just not very easy.
