Hello All,

I hope I am not acting inapropriately by starting a self-indulgent thread like this?

I had heard of e-cigs a couple of years ago and had been under the impression they were hideously expensive. However a chance conversation with an acquaintance (we often talk at the weekly pub quiz but don't know each others names or phone numbers) seriously kindled my interest. This was on Tuesday. I spent much of my free time on Wednesay researching the subject on this and other sites (hours of YouTube vids included!) and at around 12:30 today my Ego tank arrived!

I hope I haven't screwed the battery but after just a few minutes the LED on the charger went green. I'm pretty sure no further charging would be possible after this but I have seen a lot of advice saying to make sure the battery is given 6 to 8 hours charge the first time.

Anyway, despite being a very heavy smoker (approx 12.5g of Golden Virginia per day), from around 15:00 until I went to the pub at around 22:20 I didn't touch a single analogue!

In the first couple of hours it was difficult, as I kept feeling the need to reach for my my baccy and rizzla to roll one up but it got easier as the afternoon wore on. The only time I really felt I needed a proper roll up was in the aftermath of my evening meal and I was able to resist! :D

When I went to the pub, I chose to leave my EGo at home ant just take my analogue roll-ups. The first one I had there seemed quite weird and not as enjoyable as normal.

Since getting home a couple of hours ago I have only had one analogue and I am sure that is down the alcohol reinforcing the need for ritual rather than anything else.

To cut a long story short; after twelve hours, I am massively impressed by vaping and am looking forward to exploring more.

Thank you for reading,

Kingsley.

Congrats on taking the plunge and welcome!

The Tank was what got me to completely make the switch to vaping and I haven't regretted it one bit since. e-cigs have really come a long way in just a few years time, there's a lot of great gear available now that wasn't a year or two ago, with more new stuff all the time. It's a great time to be a vaper ;-)

Hi Kingsley,
I loved reading your post. I'm really happy for you. Congratulations! You'll be noticing how much better you feel very soon. Vaping is a win, win, win.

As far as your battery goes it sounds like it may have shipped pre-charged. I'm not sure but I know someone else will have the info you need. You will likely be one of the many who transitions to vaping without much effort. Mostly because you have been doing a lot of homework. Good for you.

Cheers and Welcome to ECF.

dont worry...in a few weeks you wont be able to stand the taste of analogs.....it gets easier...I still get an urge now and then...but mostly for the ritual of it and the habit...once i realize what im about to taste...the urge goes away...ill take a drag off my moms cig once in a while just to reinforce that i really do hate the taste........

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! :D

I found myself "needing" an analogue when I first got up this morning but am yet to touch a second one today. This is definitely a good thing :)

I think one mistake I made in my initial order was buying three different strengths of tobacco-flavour juice. Not that I find it unpleasant, but I am nearly 24 hours into vaping and I want to try FLAVOURS!
Only trouble being, I'm still not sure what strength I prefer. Ho hum, I guess details like that will come with experience and time.

Does anyone have any recommendations for UK based suppliers? Easyecigarette, where I bought my Ego seems to have very good customer service. Totally Wicked appears to have a very good selection and looks like they might be worth trying. Does anyone have any experiences of these two companies to share? Are there others I should look at?

I know it's probably just that "kid on xmas morning" feeling but I am almost tempted to call vaping my new hobby!

Thanks again for the welcomes and advice :D

Well, since I'm in the US I don't have any first-hand experience with UK suppliers, but Totally Wicked has a US branch and I've been buying from them since I first started vaping. They have a huge selection of DIY flavorings and a good selection of pre-mixed juice. Their prices are a little bit higher than some other places, but they still get the majority of my juice business due to quality and customer service

Browse around the Forum Suppliers section of the forum. There are quite a few UK suppliers listed there and I'm sure you will find people who will recommend any of them

Thanks for the advice Killjoy :) I've ordered my first selection of non-tobacco flavoured juices from TW and have found an amazing (to my mind) number of UK suppliers with good reputations thanks to this and other forums and no doubt will be trying many of their wares over coming weeks and months.

My vaping experience continues to go from strength to strength. On my second day of vaping, I had a total of two anologues. The early morning one I mentioned in my previous post and a late night one after half a bottle of wine. Again, I am sure ritual was the main reason I felt the need for the second. I didn't enjoy it. It wasn't exactly nasty but it was far from the nice experience I had come to expect from that combination of Golden Virginia, Green Rizla and Swan Extra Slim Filter Tips!

Today, I have only had the urge to roll-up on a couple of occasions and am yet to have a single analogue. The first was whilst I was at my local pub, in the smoking shed. Despite failing to control my instinct to move my hand to my thigh pocket to grab my my baccy and skins, it didn't matter. For the first time in years I had gone out with no tobacco products on my person. A vape or two and it was forgotten!

A little latter I got to speak to the landlord, he has been a friend for several years. I asked him about vaping and he seemed a little clueless, but came back just a few minutes later and said it was fine. He even pointed to a sticker that I had been semi-aware of for a couple of years but wasn't sure was still there. It Says "Electronic cigarettes are legal and may be used in this pub"!

I vaped indoors after that :D

Several smokers and pseudo-ex-smokers were intrigued. With a bit of luck The Unicorn may become a vaper's paradise over the next few months :D (OK, I'm being overly optomistic but one can dream! ;) )

I've also worked out that not only is 26mg/ml way to high for me, despite being a 40+/day smoker, but that even 11mg/ml is probably higher than I need for all day vaping. Until 3 days ago I thought rolling your own was a good way to control the dose of nicotine. I can't wait until I have enough experience to mix my own perfect blends. Vaping is the future!

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention. For several years there has only been one room in my house where smoking is permitted. I am sat in that room now. I have been sat in that room when typing all of my posts. But tonight, for the first time ever, that room smelt nasty and still smells nasty now!

I am really amazed that my sense of smell is coming back so quickly and acutely after less than 72 hours. As I said previously: VAPING IS THE FUTURE! :vapor::toast:

Hi Kingsley... i see you have already found allabout e-cigs but you may also be interested that ECF also have a UK Section

well done for making the transition to vaping ...good luck

Thanks Tye/Gordy :)

And I think that this maybe the post that allows me to post in the UK Section for the first time! :D
If I am right, I am off to anounce the first vaper friendly pub I have found in my mamoth 4 days of vaping in the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/uk-forum/30010-where-uk-you.html thread as we speak :D

I think it takes about an hour for the forum software to recognize your new status and give you access to the rest of the forum ;-)
Ah, ok. Thanks for that. I guess it's fair enough. It was probably unreasonable of me to expect a not-for-profit site (which I assume this is) to be running the sort of hardware/software combination that synchronises all of it's internal databases in seconds! In fact the more I think about it, the more I realise how unreasonable my initial expectation was and I extend my apologies to the Admins.

Thanks again.
