When looking at their site last night, they have a section called "Without Diacetyl". Not sure what exactly that means (no added vs diacetyl vs. no diacetyl inherently in the flavorings), but I would probably browse that section/email them and ask what that means.

thanks for reply. I did email them - their reply was that they can not advise if using for ecigs

Sounds like they are ducking any possible liability issues if someone becomes ill from using their products. Their site is confusing and I don't think they will be changing it anytime soon because of the perceived problems e-cig use may imply. I do use some of their flavors but they come from vaping vendors.

I just came back to this thread to see if Ace777 posted an update and thought I'd throw in another 2 cents.

I've been using NF from both ECX ad HDV for about 18 months. HDV states they use the flavor extracts and it appears they've copied and pasted the partial description from the NF Organic Flavor Extracts page.

It's interesting to note that the ECX site states, in part ..." Nature's Flavors has developed innovative ways of producing organic flavors for the DIY e-liquid community. The processes for making organic flavors are much the same as they are for making natural flavors. The ingredients are organic and natural. Nature's Flavors uses only certified organic ingredients, filtering each flavor with RO water and organic alcohol. These unique flavor concentrates contain no chemical residues because there are no chemical solvents used." (I highlighted in RED the interesting part. The NF site states nothing about developing flavors for the DIY e-liquid community, that I could find.) So, I'm thinking that ECX put those words in their description.

Most assuredly some have the diacetyl and related diketones because those things occur in nature, so these are not necessarily "safe" to inhale, but then if we're worried about better safety, we could use just vape un-flavored DIY nic base and be done with the worries about inhaling flavors etc. If we buy flavors that are diacetyl-free, they might likely have sugars and gum acacia, which gunk up coils faster than flavors without.

Many members have been contacting NF to no avail. When Diacetyl questions arise, they have squirmed away from answering. The company seems to be very taciturn in sharing specifics on possible toxins/ingredients. Personally, no matter how awesome a flavor is, I can't favor a company who does business like this. It makes me question other things.

I've only been using 3 flavors.

Vanilla custard as an added flavor to a few recipes. The more I think about it & RP you make a good point - I'm going to try the TFA vanilla custard. The other main flavor I've been using is the organic Caramel Cream. after trying a few diff caramels the NF seems to be the favorite - however perhaps its time to look around for a different Caramel Cream.

Some of the NF flavors from ECX do contain diacetyl. I had a recent conversation with them and it sounds like they are trying to move over to non-diacetyl versions. One thing for sure, ECX is honest and transparent. If you ask them a question about a flavor, you get a prompt, accurate answer. The little I've experienced from NF is that they simply don't want to answer. My feeling is that they want to avoid any liability by not implying the flavors are 'ok to use' but also don't want to admit there might be something harmful for fear of losing the revenue.

I think NF needs to figure out who they - a supplier to vapers or not.

About a year ago I contacted natures flavors over the phone and asked if their flavors contained diacetyl and they said any flavor I wished to order could be made without by replacing with acetoin. I was provided an email to their chemist so I could send a list of flavors I wanted to purchase in order to find out which ones would be reformulated. I did sense some annoying about the reformulating, they kept explaining how diacetyl was a natural chemical that occurred from fermentation. I never did email them, or purchase anything for that matter. My DIY endeavors were delayed until the beginning of this year.

I have watched the site change over the last couple years. It's nice to see that they now have a diacetyl free selection.
As their website has changed I have noticed a lot of errors, so if an extract states "contains sugar" you may want to contact them to verify. The most prevalent error I have noticed has been there for a while now... On the "Without Diacetyl" section, there are TWO sub-sections titles "Organic Flavor Extracts Without Diacetyl" if you notice where the link takes you, the top one takes you to "Organic Flavor Concentrates Without Diacetyl" the second sub-section is accurate as it takes you to flavor extracts... talk about confusion. I can't belief they have let that go on for as long as it has (at least 6 months). They must not have an IT employee in-house, they probably contract out the work. This would explain a lot.
