I just put in a brand new bvc coil and its leaking directly into my mouth whenever I take a drag. I tried cleaning out the bottom and I have it on the largest airflow setting. I Tried 8.5-10 watts and nothing seems to be correcting this. The coils that came with it worked fine. Is the coil just defective or am I doing something wrong?

That thing is garbage! Throw it away. It has so many problems.

First, to fix a flooded atomizer take your tank off the battery and blow through the mouthpiece (with a paper towel under it or covering the airflow hole). This will drain the extra eliquid.

When you inhale, take a long smooth draw vs a short sharp draw. This will prevent extra eliquid from being pulled into your coils and flooding it. Inhalation technique with an e-cigarette

Whenever you first sense that your atomizer is beginning to flood try this:
1. Open up the airflow so when you take a hit you are not pulling in as much juice into your coils (if your tank has airflow control) .
2. Raise your voltage or wattage if your battery allows you to do this. This will vaporize more eliquid.
3. Tip your battery up (and take a few hits). By tipping it up you will prevent more eliquid from being fed into the coils.

Give one or all of these a try.:)

-clean and air dry
-replace coils
-check airflow
-check wattage/voltage of the device
-make sure the wicking material is making contact with the coil

From personal experience I can tell that different atomizer/tanks are better suited for different people. When I made the transition into bigger, 'better' tanks I first bought a Nautilus. I went through 6 or 7 (10ml) bottles of juice in 2-3 days, which for me isn't normal. I'd say I probably vaped 20% of that juice, drank 30 % and the other 50% leaked in my pocket (totally made up numbers btw). I replaced the coils and the atomizer itself but that didn't help. I cleaned and dried all the components and let a friend test it and it worked just fine. Then, when I tried it again I ran into the same problem.

I went and returned it and bought a kanger subtank mini and it hasn't leaked once and, of course, it proved to be a lot more satisfying for me. My friend however prefers the nautilus. My advice is, if after cleaning the tank, replacing the coils and all other suggestions that other posters have offered you still run into the same issue, try a different atomizer.

Before you go through all of the trouble of tearing it down and replacing the coil try this.

It's NOT going to be pleasant, you'll get some juice in your mouth, but.....

Increase the wattage. Preferably over 15 watts, somewhere between 15 and 20 watts seems to work best. Then turn the mod upside-down and take about 5-6 puffs in a row from it before turning it back over. Once you turn it back over, leave the wattage where you have it set unless you get a dry hit or burnt taste. Only turn the wattage down if you get dry hits or burnt taste, and then only turn it down 1 watt at a time until it works right.

I've found that these coils need high wattage to work right. I had nothing but problems at 10-11 watts. Turned it up to 19 watts and it works great. Never leaks, never gurgles, never a dry hit and never any burnt taste, even if I chain vape with it.

One a side note, if these are the coils that came with the tank then the one that was preinstalled was a 1.6ohm coil and the replacement is a 1.8ohm coil. Personally I've found that the 1.6ohm coils work better in this tank.
