As the original thread on this had not fully answered this, and as a new member I can't post to the original thread - I wanted to get this out there so that it will hopefully help at least one person.

The nautilus is my favorite tank, and I had high hopes for the mini and the VTR. But, it doesn't fit. While screwing the base on with the VTR upside down worked, it was the reverse that did not. There's next to nothing to grip on the bottom of the mini and, while I thought I was getting the base off it was actually the top piece that was moving! Liquid spilled everywhere, and that resulted in rapid attempts to keep my dogs from licking up vapor. Sadly, the ring on the VTR is just too small to pass the base of the mini through with modifying it.

I use my VTR and an Iclear XI's for my backup gear and was considering upgrading to Nautilus mini's. Thank you for posting this!

Have you considered modding your VTR? You can mill, drill, or otherwise remove material from the ID of the ring and it will accommodate up to a 22mm device (while retaining a smaller ring) according to what I have read and pictures I have seen. You can also remove the ring all together and some of the plastic and it will work with 23mm devices. I have been considering it for awhile but as it is not my primary setup the priority is fairly low in my vaping queue.

The VTR was my first pv too and I never hesitate to recommend it to beginners but I think its a device that most will outgrow in their vaping journey. I purchased a mech mod and rarely use my VTR since doing so. Mech mods have a lot of bonuses but I have been missing the battery life and constant output of a regulated device. I have been looking into the dna 30's and sx chipped devices now. I am strongly considering getting a IPV2 50 watt device as my next one.

I have most of the tools necessary to modify my VTR but I think personally I should just spend my time and effort finding a new device with more room to grow. Sounds like we are both on the same wavelength here. :)

I thought the VTR came with an extension what allowed you to use other atty's

It does come with an extension. Due to the design thought it makes the unit much taller. Some people say its ugly but for me looks aren't as important as functionality. You can't pocket the VTR with the extension and that limits its usefulness to me.
