Nautilus mini haunted by poltergeist

Hi! I've had this mini for several months now, and now it's doing strange things like adjusting the wattage without being touched... I'll look at it and suddenly it's up to 25w from my usual 8. I am not accidentally pressing any buttons or anything. Also, the fire button will randomly stop working even though the vape is turned on. Sometimes I actually do have to turn it up to 15w to get any heat from it, other times it works fine at 5w.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone give me some advice? Besides burning sage over it to cleanse any ......-off vapour spirits?

I may be wrong, but that sounds like a battery issue and I think the nautilus mini is just the tank? Do you know what battery you have, when was the last time you replaced the coil in the nautilus?

I'm sorry, I must be missing something. A Nautilus Mini is a tank. A tank isn't going to change your wattage setting. This sounds like a battery problem.

What do you have your Nautilus Mini sitting on?

When this happens, is the resistance changing? There should be a resistance reading (with a little ohm symbol) on your iStick's screen.

It sounds like your resistance is fluctuating (likely the head is not screwed in tightly) which would result in the wattage changing to output your specified voltage (or vice-versa, it's the same thing).

Well, I wish I could tell what the resistance reading was, but now the damn thing won't even turn on. I appreciate any advice, but I do always screw the head in tightly, so I don't know if that would be it.

Istick 30 is a pretty durable device by most accounts, although there have been a few with issues. I would first check the coil in the nautilus and clean the connections (threads on both the battery and tank as well as the pin). If you have access to a different tank, I'd see if that makes any difference too.

Ah, I will try cleaning those. Regarding the different tank, my boyfriend and I share the battery, so we each have our own tank (both are nautilus mini) and switch back and forth. Could this be what's causing the issues?

The only thing I have to add beyond what has already been said is that sometimes my iStick 30W gets a little touchy but that hasn't meant it's dead yet. Sometimes you just need to stop touching it for a minute and it will turn back on with the five clicks. Otherwise, yeah, check the resistance if it comes back on and make sure everything is clean. Definitely see if it's better with another tank, but unfortunately it sounds like your battery could be dying.

How old is the device itself?

ETA: No, there should be no problem caused by switching tanks. Lots of people use lots of different tanks and atomizers on the same device. Have you dropped it or done anything you shouldn't? It doesn't sound like it other than maybe screwing the tank on too tight... just making sure. Just out of curiosity, do the two of you just prefer different tanks or prefer not to swap spit if you don't have to? If it's the latter, something like switching drip tips might be easier than switching tanks, but again that should not cause this issue.

Just saw the "won't turn on" part, if it's charged and you've tried it without the tank screwed on, probably not good news for the istick. BTW, screwing the tank on tight is not really a good thing, just snug enough to make contact works best. On many batteries that will force the pin down and then the tank can't make contact.

Should be fine switching tanks on the battery. Sounds like the coil or the 510 is loose. Put your boyfriends tank in it & see if it still has issues. If not, take your tank apart & clean it up & fit it all back together with a new primed coil. Check for anything loose

Thanks for your reply. The battery is barely three months old. We haven't dropped it, we're super careful with it (it's basically our most treasured possession) and we have a protective case for it, which I actually removed because I thought maybe it was pressing the buttons and increasing the wattage. I just plugged it in to charge it and while it shows me the battery icon filling up, there is still no response at all to the power button.

I don't mean to insult your intelligence by asking such a simple question but that's what it looks like when charging when turned off and sometimes I forget myself! Or sometimes I try to change from wattage to volts (3 clicks) and turn it off instead. It's a bit finicky at times, but should be 5-clicks to turn on and off. Sometimes it will misread 5-clicks too, so just try again if you haven't.

Oh, we've never tried to turn it on without a tank screwed in. And yes, we are aware of the not-too-tight thing, as we've had other kinds of vapes that require the same snugness.

Boo, that's a shame. I might recommend upgrading to one of the new 40W TC iSticks if you do have to replace; most places are selling those and new 30W for about the same price anyway.... I hope your battery comes back to life but it doesn't sound like it's got much left in it. You never know, though. Sometimes they're just weird. The good news is that there are a number of other options in the same price range if this has scared you off Eleaf at all, but I'm broke so I certainly understand the frustration of a dead vaping anything.

Especially if you're using a nautilus mini, it might be worth keeping an inexpensive eGo spinner battery around as a backup (if you don't already have one). It would work pretty well with a Nautilus mini and the appropriate coils.

Is there a woman that can explain the rules to this poor lost soul? Fault does not necessarily lie with the person who caused the issue as it does with the person who can be convinced they are actually at fault no matter what.. If all else fails, tears will almost always get things swaying your way!
