Was getting a slight burnt flavour off of my first coil on my nautilus mini, so decided to change it out with the second one that came in the box. Went to take my first hit off of it and inhaled what I can only describe as the worst toxic taste I've ever had in my mouth, not sure how to describe it but it's sort of metallic, I initially thought it was the battery but have since gone back to the old coil and it works fine. Any ideas?

I haven't yet come across a bad BVC for the Mini... I am sure it happens though. Sounds like you might have found one. There ARE YouTube vids of how to re-coil these. I think Rip Trippers did one IIRC.

You might try soaking it in PGA (everclear) over night and rinsing it real good the next day. Might just be a bad one though.

Search You Tube for "Micro Coil Build In The Aspire nautilus " Rip Trippers shows how to rebuild these. Once you see whats inside those little things you will understand better what might be wrong AND how getting a bad one would be possible.

Even though I will prolly NEVER re-coil one of these myself I was glad I got to see one from the inside up close without wasting one of my own.

Exactly! Me too. Although they perform better when properly done from what I have heard.
Personally I will wait until I get my first rebuild-able before I go to all that trouble.

Might try the Alcohol soak thing just in case there is a bit of oil or something in there somewhere.

Also don't forget that you should always let the juice soak into a new fresh head for 5 or 10 minutes before heating it up. A dry burn can cause the coil to produce bad flavor from then on.

Also I have found that almost all these things start out a bit harsh and mellow over time as they "break in".

WOW... That is why I always do short light mouth hits when using a coil for the first time. Just quick button pulses combined with stoking mouth hits and releases. No inhale until she starts tasting right. Never know what might be lurking down in there.
This. ^^^

Whenever I put in a new BVC coil I put a few drops of e-liquid down the center of the coil and I'm good to go..

I watched a video online where someone installed a new Nautilus BVC coil into a Nautilus mini. The guy in the video put a few drops of e-liquid into the coil from the top. He gave it a few light puffs from the top of the coil to push the liquid down priming the wick before screwing it into the tank. He said it prevents "dry hits". I started doing this myself being careful not to flood the coil and it has worked well for me.

did you "prime" the new coil by pulling somewhat hard on the atty several times after filling it WITHOUT using the battery?? when one installs a new coil, the juice needs to be sucked into the new wick and coil before applying the voltage....

I didn't the first draw which is probably why I inhaled what tasted like chemicals, but I have off and on for the last few hours and it still tastes the same. I've now gone back to the old coil and it tastes like crap too.

Put a drop where into the coil...the long piece that goes into the tank I assume?

That toxic taste is very likely a bit of machine oil in the BVC head. Traces of machine oil more often exists in the Nautilus tank but in my experience it occasionally happens with the BVC heads as well.
As a result, I always wash the tank with water and dish soap before the first use, and now I also soak every new BVC head in vodka over night and rinse with water. Simply soaking it in water and dish soap and then a good rinse might also work.
In each case I recommend letting the head dry for a couple days.

I've not yet experienced the machine oil taste in Kanger tanks and coils but a friend of mine and me both did with the Nautilus tanks and coils.

No doubt you feel you shouldn't have to go through that in order to enjoy a vape, but once you get a good clean Nautilus tank and BVC head, you'll find they are hard to beat.

Still seems to me like you smoked (yes smoked) some wicking material. A dry wick and a good dose of power would be horrendous on these BVC heads. Always give it a minute or five to let the juice fully saturate the wicks. That pretty much goes for any clearomizer. Sure you can prime it by dripping a few drops directly into the coil, but if you're not comfortable doing that just let it sit.
