Anyone else find the bottom to be almost impossible to get off if it's sat a day or two? That seal, although great for keeping things leak - free, just about cements that bottom on the glass. I'm almost afraid I'll break it one of these days.

Any tips on making it easier to get that bottom off? It's the only thing I just HATE about this otherwise perfect (for me) tank. I dread refilling it. Happens on both the straight glass tank, as well as the replacement tank with the steel sleeve.

Thanks in advance. :)

I had the same problems when I first got my mini, the trick is dont tighten it down all the way just twist until it is nice and snug the rubber oring will makesure no juice leaks out.

Definitely!! I'm a pretty strong guy but I just couldn't get that sucker loose. I was definitely afraid of cracking the glass! And I was not over-tightening it.

I found that some grippy shelf liner material that I had lying around was perfect for holding the glass and the bottom metal sleeve. Came apart easily.

Yes. Even when I just snug it- thing is a beast to get off.

I use a piece of bicycle inner tube as a grip. I suppose some dish gloves would also do the trick. I'm also nervous of shattering the glass while torquing on it.

Very innovative ideas for gripping it. At $40 for the mini, and another $15 for the optional tank, I wasn't about to get out the channellocks.

Tightening the top a tad on the original tank does help a lot.

$40!?!? no no no... that won't do.

let me introduce you to the 'Deals & Steals' link. Thread tools--> 'subscribe'...

I think mine was $19.95 with free shipping... The mini goes on sale at least once per week. just keep an eye on your subscription.

$40 is WAY too much. danfinger is correct $19.95 - even on fleabay with free ship. Don't buy from the B&M until you search it out. That's a fast way of making this more expensive than analogs

Two problems: I don't want to wait a month for a tank, and PayPal is just how I do business. This causes a problem for 98% of online transactions, I have found. A week is fine, but PP is a must. My billing addy is a PO box, and I don't live in a PO box. That causes all kinds of problems ATM. I am going to get it fixed, but I want some of this nice kit in the interim.
