How would the upper tank seal cause a problem with drilling out the air hole?

I drilled a new one, and the problems are multiplied. The new tank grommets sit in a recessed channel. this creates (on the underside of the platform) a ridge in which all the holes are drilled. This slightly repositions the holes towards the center hole. I bored out to an eighth inch and my hole broke into the center hole ("well" hole, stem hole). It still works, but I can't recommend drilling this type.

This was a quote from a thread on the aga-t+.....

I wouldn't drill it out. I think its pretty good. But Jake and I compared holes:D the other night and his was bigger;).
Of course I'm talking air hole on the aga......maybe.

It sucks, I was hoping the new one I got would have the same size air hole as the first one....but it was bigger...way to airy for me

Oh, the wick hole, not the air hole.. That makes much more sense.. Crap, I had planned on drilling it out too.. When I sit down and play with it later, I will have a better understanding about this channel situation.

The wick hole (lol) on my is so close to the neg. Post I couldn't drill it out if I wanted to.
Jake..jb that thing and drill it smaller. Or a piece of duct tape over the hole and poke a smaller hole.
Heck. Get some colored electrical tape and put a racing stripe on it and poke it.

Ooohhh....I'm liking this racing stripe thought.....should just tig weld it and drill a new one.....oh wait that would require a tig welder and a tiny drill bit, which I have neither!
