A long time ago in a far away place just outside of Malcolm lived a man and a woman and their 58 kids and 27 trained monkeys...
Just kidding....just over 5 years ago on Jan 18 2008 Becky and I were watching her 4 siblings for a week while her parents were at their cabin in Wyoming. Her parents lived a mile down the road from us, out in the country....when we watched their kids we would stay at their house. The first night was a Friday. Becky and I, along with some friends went to the funny bone comedy club in omaha. Left the kids with a babysitter. We got back to her parents house at about 2am. Her parents have a wood burning furnace. The furnace had gone out...so i started the fire again and went to sleep. The next morning about 10am we decided to go to our house for a few hours. Before we left I loaded up the fireplace with as much wood as it would hold to make sure it didnt go out. We were at our house for 4 or 5 hours before some guy came flying up the driveway. He kept asking where Becky's parents were. Then he started saying something about house was on fire. We hurried up and loaded all the kids up and flew the mile down the road. When we got there her parents house was completely engulfed in flames. Ended up burning to the ground....they think it was either a chimney fire or I left the bottom door open on the furnace and all the air just caused the fire to burn so hot it made the chimney so hot it ended up catching on fire. That started the worst week in my life. 6 days later my 3 month old son died in his sleep. Of course the cops took us in for questioning and tried saying we killed him because we were just so stressed out over everything.....that's when I took up drinking 3/4 of a bottle of tequila so I could pass out long enough to try and make it through the night.
Wow, sorry to unload on y'all like that...it's not something I usually talk about much....so yeah, that wasn't the first fire I started...
ruin all my hope.
