My ego 650 batteries only came with usb, I need a good wall charger for them, preferably one for different type batteries. I've become wary of usb after the horror stories I've read on here. Would like something for multipurpose, as I intend to buy and try out some new ones. I've read some can take hours to charge, if you know a better one I'd appreciate the help, thx!

Your eGo usb charger is a 420 milliamp, 4.2 volt charger as are all eGo usb chargers.

You are looking for a usb wall charger, right?

All of these usb "wall-warts" have an output of 5 volts, and range from .5amp (500 milliamp, and the most commonly found) up to 2 amp. The only real advantage to a 2 amp wall charger would be if you have a pass-through eGo battery.

From the cheapest to the most expensive, your charging times will vary little if at all, and quality difference in reality is illusory. Your usb charger plugs into the wall charger, and that is what regulates the charging. You can pick up a usb wall charger darn near anywhere and any of them will do the job.

The length of time to charge is determined on your batteries mah capacity, whether or not it has added circuitry (such as a variable voltage twist), and overall condition of the battery.

The AC to USB adapters are all DC 5 volts. Any of them will be fine, as long as the rated output current is 500 mA (0.5 amp) or higher. A 1,000 mA rated supply won't make the batteries charge any faster. It just means the adapter is capable of providing more than enough current in this case.

The standard eGo charger dongle requires 420 mA current minimum so you never want to use it with a low current 300 mA power supply.
