Ego, Riva, Tornado starter kits (all about the same..shop for best $) For the best vapor a VG juice and a LR atty.

Once your sold on vaping and ready to upgrade...here is some advice from some one who been thru it....save a lot of money and go to an intermediate selfjuicer mod. I quit smoking 2 years ago and still haven't save any money....but you can. Good luck and enjoy vaping! :)

For a beginner, I would recommend the eGo/Riva 510 or the VGO 801. Both have better batteries which improve throat hit over the small cig size devices. They are about the size of a small cigar so they are not big at all.

If you truely want "great" throat hit, then you need to consider a good 5 volt or variable volt PV (personal vaporizer). Throat hit come from two things: more power (bigger batteries or lower resistence) and higher nicotine strength. (I would recommend 24mg nic. strength inorder to transition to vaping, at least initially)

A good 5 volt PV is the GLV2 (5 volt version) from: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor . IMO, the best variable volt device on the market is the new Darwin from: Nhaler . There are other good 5 volt and VV devices.

If you decide on the eGo/Riva, Liberty Flights has a 20% off button you can click on in the upper left hand corner of their home page. The VGO 801 is sold by Breezy Smokes.

Good Luck

This, for me was a critical question. Your answers will be different depending on this. Also, How much 'tinkering drama' maintenance, and tweaking are you willing to accept?

Throat hit was my holy grail
and the little low voltage cigarette-looking mall models ALL left me unsatisfied in this regard. I also wanted something low maintenance. Then, I found this place and saw the higher voltage and low resistance stuff. But some of these were a lil' crazy looking to me. I wanted something that was basically tubular and no larger than a little Tiparillo sized cigar. I wanted it to look like it has some class, and NOT like some sort of drug paraphernalia. (No offense to the Mod gods)

I bought the Ego T Tank from CigNot. I am thrilled with it! I highly recommend you search this forum and read what others have had to to say on this model. That's what sold me.

It needs VERY little tinkering. One charged battery/filled tank lasts me all day. It looks very cool. And best of all, when I take a hit of this thing, it feels like I just inhaled a bunny! TH is definitely there! For the first time in my life I feel I actually have a shot at quitting smoking.

It really depends on what style you like. I happen to like my joye ego. My mother doesn't like it at all and prefers her kr808 from VFL. Her XL battery seems to last as long as mine does, cartos not quite as long. But she's at home and it's not a huge issue for her to fill them. She didn't like the looks of the ego or the manual battery. Different strokes I guess.

ah the eternal question which ecig
the ones mentioned frequently on this site are good ones
depends on your temperment
it you don't like to fiddle around with your ecig like me and just smoke you can't go wrong with the 808 type. personally they don't have the battery life to my liking. my 808 only lasts about an hour chain vaping. i use the cig easy elegant now. i get four hours of life chain vaping it and it recharges in an hour and a half. right now they are out of stock for some reason.
if you like to fiddle around and make a big deal out of it others can give good advice. gee they already have. no shortage of opinons on this site. anyway good luck in your ecig from the nasty tobacco. you'll probably find it an easy transition like most others, and it's a heck of alot cheaper here in new york with the price of tabacco cigs at ten dollars.

I'm a big fan of 5 volt vaping myself. But, you can simulate this to a large extent with lower-resistance atties/cartos. They don't last quite as long (lifetime) but provide more TH and vapor. You didn't really indicate your setup, or what ohm atty/carto you are using, but you may wish to try 2.5 ohm, 2.0 ohm atty/carto. I had almost completed a longer post on devices and types, and then fat-fingered the keyboard and lost it..... anyway please reply with your current device info and we can get more specific.

If you insist on tossing your current device, the NEW device choices are so varied... wow. It really depends on your preferences:
You need to decide on voltage (oomph) and form factor (and price, and features, and and and) but the most important, IMO, is voltage choice. You can either go "stock retail" with the 3.x volt devices like a super-mini, eGo, Box mod, Juice-feeder... or get a variable voltage mod, or standard 5v mod. I'm not even counting higher voltage mods in this discussion.

If you insist on a cig-sized model, then you are at 3.2 volts-ish. Use the LR atties/cartos but the battery will not last long, and you will tire of it soon.
If you want ease of purchase/use/parts - get an eGo/Riva type of unit, 1000+ mah. 2.0 to 2.5 ohm atties.
5 volt, research the mods. Or get a 5v passthru and a 2.0 amp USB wall plug with 3.0 ohm atties and try out 5 volt vaping. Then research the heck out of mods and find a 5v or vv that's right for you.

Summary: want TH and vapor production = want oomph. battery size = power for oomph. volts = oomph and/or LR = oomph.

Good Luck!

P.S. There's actually an equation that helps with this: oomph (watts) = V * V / R. Where v is the volts, and R is the ohm rating of the atty/carto. There's details, but the bottom line is you probably want to shoot for at least 7 watts (8 is probably better). My guess is you're at around 4 now, but IDK without knowing your setup. So you see, you can get oomph by lowering resistance, or upping voltage. The higher voltage stuff is more robust and lasts longer.

P.P.S. Sorry to hit a 14-day-er with all this.. lol. I was in a typing mood. Don't let it scare ya off tho. Dig in and have fun. I'm probably going get crap for this, but they say "when in doubt, get an eGo type unit!" (The eGo hater's club is going to write me for that one....)

Ditto on the eGo/Riva/Tornado, same for VG (vapor) and LR atty. Liberty Flights and many other vendors carry these items and they are a GREAT way to get started. I'd go the 510 thread type personally, will give you more options later if you should decide to upgrade to a higher voltage device, mods, etc.

Hard to beat TWO full PVs, each with a 750mah battery with attys in a form factor smaller than a sharpie marker, shipped is less than $33.00 (Riva 510 lite kit+shipping at LF).

This is a tough question, and it depends a lot on what you think of looks, etc., and whether you want to drip or use carts or want a tank ... and my opinion may change tomorrow, so don't put too much stock in it. Right now, for users who really want a great vape, I'd encourage looking into a madvapes Roughstack. It's not the best-looking e-cig (although I like the look), but it's built like a Sherman Tank -- you'd pretty much need a steamroller to hurt it -- and a full kit (batteries, charger, attys, etc.) is around $70.

I don't mind stuff like Egos (I'm happy I started with one), but the longer I'm into this, the more I like the ideas small companies are coming up with as opposed to the mass-produced stuff coming from the Far East.

I quit smoking the day my Bloog MaxxFusion arrived. It is fantastic. Not once have I even *thought* about giving up and going out to buy a pack of smokes. No buyer's remorse, no let downs, no feeling a need to "upgrade".....just happy and satisfying vaping.

The "battery life" of a real cigarette for me was anywhere from 4-10 minutes. :) Swapping out a battery from my PCC and screwing on a carto takes no longer than fishing a cigarette out of a pack, and locating a lighter to set it on fire. By the time a fresh battery is spent, the one in my PCC is all charged up and ready to go.

Best of luck finding what works for you!
