Hey All,

I created a no nicotine Chocolate flavor using PA Chocolate.

My setup is as follows:

10ml batch at 85/25 PG/VG

with 30 drops of flavor.

Tastes great, however when I take a drag, I start coughing because of the hit to the throat (not like nicotine) This hit is more like a heavy tickle hit that makes you cough, like you would get when you first tried vaping.

Any ideas?

This is being used on an ego T with a LR Atty (New Atty)

Should I increase PG Base? or VG Base?

I get that too with my juices:( They have a bite to them that bothers my throat and makes me cough. It *feels* peppery to me. People here told me to steep the juices longer. With mine, it's that way before I add flavoring so I know it's my nicotine. I got my last batch of nic juice from VoidMist. Is yours from there too?

I don't know if my steep method is wrong though. I made a big bottle of stock 15 mg juice 2 weeks ago and it's still peppery and caustic. Maybe I should leave the lid off for a few days? Maybe it won't steep because it's sealed up tight.

NP, do you inhale directly into the lungs? I get that tickle/cough if I try that.
I would definitely let a batch sit for a day or two before trying it, unless it's only mint flavor.

Just curious, why add Koolada to a peppermint juice? Seems like it would be plenty cool without it.

Silk, what the nicotine strength of your juice? I don't get the peppery sensation unless I go up to 36mg or so (usual juice strength is 25mg). I don't think steeping will do anything to change it. I've been buying nic from Xtremevaping, My Freedom Smokes and Box Elder. Never tried VoidMist.

I wanted to get a more cooler hit like menthol liquid gives you. I do inhale to the lungs, but my feeling isn't peppery, more like a very strong tickle, as if you were a smoker, ran 20 miles, and developed that tickle from over exertion.... I was told last night that it was too little flavoring and that was the PG being more concentrated doing that. So I have readjusted my batches and am just waiting now.

This sounds like a flavor thing. There are some chocolate flavorings I have tried to DIY with that do this to me. Capellas Choc Toffee does this. And I do not use PG in my DIYs. My rule is this: if a flavoring makes me cough, even at less than 10%, I don't use it.

You might also try VG-only DIYs. I thin mine with about 12% distilled water if I am using 10% flavoring.

Max,

I vape 15mg DIY juice and vape 16-18 mg vendor juice. Only mine has the peppery feeling in my throat. I think it's my 60 mg Nic juice. It's dark color and smells caustic - like wood varnish sorta? My first Nic juice didn't smell like this or taste like this and it was crystal clear, like water is.

I'm really hoping it's not my flavorings. The strawberry one (which is one of the ones doing this) has no effect if I combine it with current Strawberry juice.

I'll report back in a few days after I let it steep a bit more and play around with the mixtures if need be

I think you are using WAY too much flavoring. That and you should let the juice sit in a cool dark place for at least 48 hours before trying it.

my recipe is setup using 10% flavoring.

The one I have set at 15% works great without this hit. I haven't tried the other juices yet, I'll give them a shot tomorrow
