Need a Little Help

Hello all, Obviously a new member here and I need a little bit of help. My dad has been using an ecig for about 3 months now and he is using a cheap little one we buy at a local smoke shop and then we buy either cartos for it or just recently bought a tank and am now refilling the tank. What I am wondering is this, this battery is just a cheap little 808 thread and he has about 7 of them now because while they work great they don't hold a charge for a while and it seems like he has been through about 15 of them in the last couple months and at 20 bucks a pop that gets expensive, so can someone recommend a affordable 808 thread that I can get. I would consider switching him to a 510 but all the accessories he has are for a 808 and he is a older guy so I don't think he would understand having to hook an adapter up every time he needs to change cartos or refill his tank.

There are also eGo batteries with 808 threads on them, I believe the trade name is 'vGo' but I've seen other vendors selling them as 808 eGos generically. Might be something to look for if he doesn't mind a thicker device, the smallest of those will outlast even the 'XL' 808 cig-style batteries that I use on the go.

ETA - Ocelot also makes a good recommendation with SI, I've got a trio of Volt batteries here and they're absolutely excellent, my only complaint is they seem to take longer to charge, but I'm also spoiled by having a Vamo with replaceable batteries now so maybe they're not any worse than regular 808s.

Smokeless Image and Halo are good. Both sell the cig-size and the larger ones with 808/ego. I use all of them. Also there are some by Kanger call E-smarts. These are somewhat in-between the small cig-size and the larger 808/ego. These are available in many places but try litecigusa. (they come in 510 or 808)

If I were to recommend only one, I would say Smokeless Image. SI has more gizmos and options. They also have an active forum down in the supplier section.

Hello from another Ohio native. Welcome to ECF!

I started with Smokeless Image way back when. Excellent stuff and a great company to deal with, they are based in Ohio, also. AltSmoke is an online company which has vape shops in both Columbus and Cincinnati, and they sell Smokeless Image products. Good place to go to try out flavors and vape supplies before you buy.

There are two thread types that the batteries that we use in vaping use. Kind of like the beta vs VHS wars from way back when. Most manufacturers have gone to the 510 thread, but some companies like Smokeless Image carry a complete line of products in the 808 thread that they prefer to use. All of the products that they offer are intercompatible, so there is something to be said about the simplicity factor for customers who know something will work if bought from one company. There are MANY customers who love and are loyal to Smokeless Image.

The Smokeless Image Volts are cigalike batteries like your dad uses now. The X2 batteries they offer are larger (cigar size) and last much longer (6 - 13 hours depending upon battery length). If your father doesn't mind using a little larger battery, I believe he will get more satisfaction with the X2's. Later, he may wish to try variable voltage, which the Volt Spinner(same size as the X2) has to be able to fine tune the vape warmer/cooler and to adjust to each flavor he may be using.

Size comparison of a cigarette/2 Volts/3 sizes of X2 batteries. Yellow X2 with a clearomizer juice attachment. X2 batteries with Nano clearomizers.

Smokeless Image has pre-filled cartridges in a variety of e-liquid flavors. But you or he may decide it is more economical (and not that difficult) to buy blank cartomizers or clearomizer tanks and fill your own from bottled juice.

There are video demonstrations of all of the Smokeless Image products on the online home page, lower right corner if I recall, to learn how to use all of the gear.

I agree with smokeless image. Vapor4life is also great for 808 stuff. All the cigalike batteries I had when I started vaping came from them ( passed them on to my mom when I got ego gear). All their batteries have a 90 day warranty. The one time I had an issue with one, they immediately sent a replacement, no questions asked. It was nice because some companies make you go through the hassle of shipping stuff back.

The mini tanks are designed as disposables; you cannot remove the coil. You can still clean them though, and get a good month out of them.

The Triton tanks have a replaceable coil, so they're a lot easier to clean. You'll get a solid month or two from those (coils), and I believe it's cheaper in the long run. I intend to reuse the tanks forever.

I use 6 Triton tanks (flavors, nic levels), so I opted for something cheap and reliable.:2c:

I was looking at the Triton stuff but correct me if I am wrong, aren't they 510 thread? All of his batteries are 808 thread
Nope, Triton is vGo threaded.

Ego thread on the outside, topped with an 808D-1. Fully compatible with G6 carto/tank.
(eGo is topped with 510 instead)
