Ok my father who smokes a pack and half a day just had a heartattack. He agreed to swithch to a PV to try to quit smoking. I need to oreder one today because he is craving bad. I trying to research as much as I can but getting really confused with all the types. First I feel he needs something that looks like a cig. Second he needs something simple like a two piece, no refilling or multiple pieces. Third no crazy cloros if possible. He was smoking Malbro reds. Hopefully they have what I am looking for out there. I read a little bit on here about not buying the v2 and stuff but are the really that bad. Please help as i need to order one today for him. Thanks ahead of time.

I'm sure he would rather have something that would work good all day without re-charging and refilling rather than something that is the size of a cigarette. I'm 71 and lots of older people like the no hassle Go-Go. It is about the size of a cigar. You can get a complete kit with two batteries and five cartos here for 44.95. GO-GO Kits - $44.95 : Cropduster901!, Home of the B-52:vapor:

I don;t recommend Gogo as a first ecig - it can only use its own stuff.

SmokelessImage Volt manuals are what I recommend. With manuals you can control your hit better and and the Volt manuals are near impossible to damage or kill with juice leaks. The prefilled cartomizers can be kept damp with eliquid. I can get a week of use out of each cartomizer but you have to keep them damp or they will singe. Same threading as Vapor4Life aka V4L and Bloogplanet and Halocigs G6. The other one I recommend the vapor4Life manuals and I recommend the standard/78mm batteries for 120mm ecig.

Super easy to start - charge it up, screw on a prefilled cartomizer and start vaping.

I do not recommend super high nic - you don't want him coughing a lot or getting irregular heartbeat from too much nic. Try mainly 15-18mg and just one pack of higher in case he needs it. And whichever you get, buy sample cartos from SmokelessImage/ Bloog / Halocigs too because they give a less harsh vape and are cooler on the lips. The V4L cartos may need a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece to keep the lips cool.

Don't know much about the gogo, other that it only uses it's own gear like Dormouse states. IF a fatter battery is what you're looking for, at least get one that uses 808, or 510 gear. Igo for 808 gear (plus it has big cartos you can get for it) and an ego\riva for 510 gear.

Just a thought.

The OP said his father said he needs something that looks like a cig.

BTW there is absolutely nothing decent the same diameter as a cig (around 8.5mm). He needs to accept 9.2-9.4mm diameter which is what all of the good slim minis are.

I stick with SmokelessImage Volt manual or alternately V4L standard size manuals. Both KR808D-1 types, the strongest slim mini at 3.6/3.7v.

That's why I threw in the big old "IF" lol. Just in case they decided to give them a look.

I'd suggest an eGo for the best overall price/performance but it doesn't look like a tobacco cig and you'd have to fill it with juice.

A cheap good one that you can pick up locally would be a Mistic. It's what I started on. For $15 you can have him set up with a battery, charger, and 1 or 2 cartridges. Hopefully this will by-pass the age verification (as you get them at a local retailer) locations to buy. And a link for the starter kit.

They aren't the greatest, but if it is a matter of needing one NOW and/or not wanting to shell out a bunch of money at the get go they are about the best bang for the buck. I started out trying the Mistic and the Blu. The Blu suck, no battery life. Being a pack and a half a day smoker like you dad is/was the Mistic lasted me all day without needing a recharge.

My thoughts when i first wanted to start vaping after a 40 yr. smoking addiction was to start with something as close to a real cig. as possible, i found out soon that i was wrong. it would not come close to keeping up with my needs. I went to a KGO it was better but i was still worn-out with recharging & switching batts.!!! So i jumped into a Darwin which was the best for me & i am so glad that it is simple to use. That helped me, i know we are all different & i am still new. The more experienced vets have great recommendations, good luck with your Dad!!

So sorry to hear about his heart problems. :(
I echo the Volt suggestions, but I would also pick up the new sealed (drip resistant) Automatic batteries. You can select one of each in your kit and try them both out and then purchase more of the favorite. The batteries are only 13 bucks each.
Pick up a few extra boxes of prefilled cartos, and matching sample size bottles of eLiquid. When he finds his favorite flavors, he can then come back and pick up larger refill bottles of juice. They have sample packs in the prefilled cartos as well as dedicated packs.

Smokelessimage.com is where I got my Volt kits from.

Also tell your dad not to laugh at some of the flavors. Not sure how old your dad is. I'm a 42 year old and was thinking the flavored stuff was a bit feminine when I first started vaping. Between a care package from a friend and a few sample packs I changed my mind about the 'strange flavors'.

Your dad won't find a flavor that really tastes like a burning cig. I've tried 4 or 5 tobacco flavors. None of them come close to burning cig. RY4 from Chi-Town Vapers is good but I get a little bit of a honey taste with it. Cherry Blossom (from VaporGod) is good. Not too strong of a tobacco flavor and not too strong of a cherry taste remind me of my grandfather's pipe tobacco.

Best bet is to order some sample packs instead of a big bottle until he finds what he likes.

One more suggestion to ponder (if you didn't have enough already).

I have the Volts and I love them mind you, but if your father is seeking just to quit and not pick vaping up as a hobby (like so many of us do, myself included), you may want to check out SmokeStik as well. I have a kit from them and they're tobacco flavor is the one I go to if I'm craving a cigarette. Most tobacco flavors taste nothing like a cigarette, but theirs doesn't taste so artificial as some I've tried. Also their batteries are lighter in terms of weight than a 808. For me it replicates the analog experience pretty well. Their kits and cartos are a bit pricier than Volt, but they are a good company who gives back to the community. They make donations to different charities on 3 of their kits and they also just donated to a package being sent out to our marines overseas. So for that I think they at least deserve to be mentioned. Starter Kits - Smoke Stik

Thanks for all the help. I will try order the volt system when I get home. It seems to get a lot of good reviews from the little time I have to research it. Only problem i see is they are out of stock of the pieces I would like. Is there a big differnce between the auto and manual batterys other then turnng them on? Just wondering if anyone else tryed the smokestiks? Thanks again

Hi c_prej. It's admirable what you're doing for your Dad.
Buy manual because:
more control over the vaping experience( if he needs a strong hit he can push on the button longer) and manual batteries are less susceptible to damage from juice. Make sure you get 2 batts.
Good Luck, Vapoor.
