Need a new setup: Questions lurk within...

Hey guys! I've been lurking this site for a long time now (actually I think I had an account, but it's been so long that it might have been swept away) and I have some questions. The cigarette style mechanical e-cig just isn't doing it for me anymore.First, I have been trying to get back into vaping but back when I started, Blus were the hot new thing on the market and there were hardly any mods/DIY kits out there. Now theres cartomizers, tanks, drip tips, all kinds of cool and sometimes expensive stuff that is pretty confusing. I have looked around and seeing that I cannot afford a ProVari at the moment, it seems like an eGo-C Twist is the way to go. As far as I can tell, it looks like the 1000mAh Twist will suit my needs, but as for the rest of the device, I am clueless.I have read stories about people not getting "genuine" joyetech Twists, how would I confirm before purchasing whether or not it is genuine?Should I go with a 2ohm cartomizer on that battery? and does it matter if it is an eGo cartomizer to match the Twist? Is there a "go-to" tank I should be looking into or is it just a matter of preference? Ideally I would like this to be low cost, but I'd rather shell out a few extra dollars for a solid mid-range device that will last me until I can afford something nicer. I knew I shouldn't have looked at the "Post your setup" threads. some of you cats have some seriously sexy machines! Can a 1000mAh Twist achieve such levels of hotness or should I throw that notion out and just go for reliability? Fake edit: Sorry for the wall of text, I guess the formatting didn't stick :(

Welcome to ECF! (or back) The eGo isn't a bad choice in stepping up from the cig look a likes. I started with those, then moved up to the eGo-c non-Twist (wasn't around yet) and it worked very well for me. Then, stepped up to a Kranger cleromizer and am currently using this system. I have the 650mah battery and use the 1.8 ohm clearo. For me, it works great.

My eGo-c starter kit cost around $100 (good old mall kiosks) but that included 2 bottles of juice. The Krangers clearos cost anywhere from 4 to 10 bucks and those have replaceable coils for a few more bucks.

My advice is forget the ego twist Its disposable you are throwing your money away. Go for a Buzz pro from notcigs its the same circuitry as the ego twist. If money is tight you can find them for sale in the classifieds I think there's one or two for sale in there now. Also the Joker from vaporlife is a great little VV mod.
Two sets of batteries and your set. You can get a nice working tank from Mom and pops vapor shop for 12$ I like cgig Charleston for attys and carts 2$ shipping and they have a good selection.
Welcome and good luck
PS Buy American!

Thanks for the advice guys!

That buzz pro looks nice, but it is a bit pricey at the moment. I have decided on the eGo C Twist for my battery, and I'm thinking a 2ohm DCT for the tank. I like the idea of the rebuildables and the replaceables, but I'm still not sure. I hear the Phoenix Bottom Coils are pretty great too.

The purpose of this new setup is (partially) so I don't have to keep buying prefilled carts every few weeks and it seems like finding a robust tank/cart combo is key in that regard.

Also, I still have a ton of juice from my old setup (not pictured).

This is what I'm using now:

As you can see I am in dire need of an upgrade haha! I have a few more atomizers and tips somewhere as well... With my first setup I liked being able to decide which atomizer and battery to use, which is why I'd rather piece together my own instead of buying a kit.

In summation:

Once I figure out what tanks I'm getting, I can move on to buying a tip and maybe some new juice flavors.

I am sorry but the recomendation to get a buzz pro seems like a bad idea...flame me if you want but it stacks batteries so to me its a little on the less safe side than most other offerings in the VV world...I would say go with one of the lavatube types or the vv gripper as they do not stack batteries and are therefor a safer option than the buzz pro. also they cost less than a buzz pro as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions and stuff guys! *internet high fives all around*

Finally went and bought it. I tried to find everything I wanted on one site, but after reading around and seeing things about sites selling disingenuous eGo products I decided to stick with cignot as it seems they are quite reputable.

Got some blueberry juice from madvapes with it as well. I took a stab in the dark and just grabbed what sounded tasty. I have no idea if madvapes juice is any good or not, but I figured I might as well get it now instead of having to pay more shipping later.

I have seen talk of steeping juices. How important is this? What are some of the preferred methods?

Also, I had no idea there were so many juice distributors here in Michigan! If only there were more stores that sold e-cig products that aren't total crap knockoff one time use deals. I tried to get the guy at my local smoke shop to look into selling parts for higher end vape kits, but he wasn't having it. "No no no. People don't want to mess with juice and all this stuff. They buy this, it's quick then they are done." Once my stuff ships I'm going to go back to his store and show him how wrong he is!

I'll probably update this thread with pictures and the like. I'd really like to mod this thing to make it a little more personalized. I have a few ideas, but without it in my hands I can't tell want will work and what wont just yet.

Stay tuned!

That sweetvapes kit's a terrible price at $78 for 2x1000mah twists.

Vaporbeast has the 900 mah batteries for 18 bucks a piece. Throw in a 3 dollar charger, all with free shipping and you're out the door for 39 bucks. Then you take your extra 31 bucks and buy 5 E1-V clearomizers (from discountvapers.com) or Vivi Nova Minis if you can't get the E1-Vs. That setup would slay the sweetvapes kit.

Here it is:

I got a 30mL /36mg bottle of blueberry from madvapes which is pretty tasty. It doesn't really taste like blueberry, but good none the less.
It took me a little while to get used to it. I still cant get those huge clouds of vapor like some of you guys can. My throat hasn't adjusted to the heat yet, and the strength of the juice is also a factor.

Next I think I am going to go with a stardust and a juice that is around 20mg or maybe even lower. Something like a coffee cake flavor. I hear ecto cooler is great as well.

As far as the ratio, I hear a 70/30 vg/pg mix is better for thicker smoke at a slight loss in flavor. Does the nicotine level change the flavor as well?

The Stardust (EGO Vision Clearomizer) is a terrible terrible clearomizer IMO. They aren't supposed to crack but they do. A LOT. I've had 8 out of 8 of them crack. 100%. That's why they sell replacement tanks for them.

So I took one of the ones that cracked and I took the tube off and started squeezing it with some pliers and I couldn't break it no matter what I tried. It was worse than metal because it would bounce back to its original position after you compress it. The stuff was unbreakable. Funny how no matter what they still manage to crack and let in air into your tank. They don't really leak even when cracked but with the air coming in through the side of the tank they create a backpressure that literally sucks the juice through the holes in the centerpost and down into the juice well of your battery. With all that juice in there it shorts the battery out and you have to clean it out before it can vape again. It's annoying as heck. Please take my advice and ignore anyone who tells you that the Stardust is a good clearo.

The E1-V is the best clearomizer on the market, followed by the Vivi Nova Mini. Both have similar performance but the E1-V edges out the Vivi Nova Mini in flavor due to its better wick. Also the Vivi Nova Mini has you screwing metal onto plastic (which is pretty fail for durability) and it's ugly as sin. It also requires an EGO Thread Collar or Sleeve (different names, same thing) to cover up the threads it leaves exposed so you can have a streamlined unit. The E1-V covers those threads without the need for a collar/sleeve. So that's a lot of reason why, for the same exact price, people should be screaming from the mountaintops for people to get the E1-V instead of the ugly duckling Vivi Nova Mini.

Shoganinja Tell us how you really feel! Your Honesty get my respect!
Since when is a tank "ugly as sin"?

I am a simple man I like the Kanger M3 Clearomizers, Carolina vapes has them $2.99 ea. They do not hold much juice but they are cheap. I have this problem... I drop things....and they always break. I work in concrete and have lost one in a slab, too. EGO survived! If I buy anything for 10 bucks I will surely drop it / break it! Full of juice no doubt.

Thank you for this advice! I was going to get a vivi nova, but as you said, the appearance of the thing just turned me off. I will definitely pick up an E1-V though.

By this, do you mean let it sit with the cap off? Or is there some other method?

I hear him on that though. I know it's more about the performance than the looks, but aesthetic is just as important to me. I was looking at the kangers as well. That isn't a bad price on them either!

The Ecto Cooler from Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories is very tasty (just ordered another 30ml bottle last night). A couple of my friends tried it and thought it was pretty much dead-on to the Hi-C drink. They have very good prices and if you use coupon "vaporfrombaker" you get an extra 10% off. It's never taken them more than one day to get an order shipped.

Hell yeah. Done and done. Thanks for the discount code by the way! What ratio of vg/pg and nicotine would you recommend? I think I am going to step it down from the 36mg, I have my blueberry for the "quick fix". Looking for more of a casual delicious vape.

Thanks again for all your advice guys! So far today I only smoked 1 analog and I didn't even really want to, just did because of habit. It's working!
