So what have you tried so far that didn't work for you? Just curious...

I have a few pretty strong coffees that I like but I just really am missing the punch of that morning cig lately...

I've tried almost every NET HHV offers. Dark Horse was not bad, but still not enough punch for me. I think Pirate's Booty has that bitter edge to it, probably from some cocoa? I forget what's in it, but I feel like I taste a little edge of the Tuscan Cocoa they also sell, which I also like (not sweet). Serendipity and Sludge are also reorders for me and Oompa might be when I vape through some of this other stuff.

I have tried Ahlusion's Maple Wildwood (too sweet, not a maple fan), Vecchio (amazing vanilla, but super sweet, no tobacco), Vurley (still lighter on tobacco but better vanilla balance), Caribbean Blend (a punch of tobacco, but still has a sweet edge), Smooth Criminal (already mentioned), Shipwreck (lighter tobacco, somewhat sweet); Plume Room's Honey Fig Tobacco (tasty, but sweet); Alien Visions Boba's Bounty (too sweet for me, and I don't get the tobacco punch that others claim), Gorilla juice (not bad after it steeps a while but the banana tastes overly ripe like mushy), flue cured (not bad after it steeps but a little sweet and just not my flavor), 555 (I want to love this one but it's just meh to me); Good Life Vapor's English Bulldog (not sure what I think of this yet, it's maybe 2 weeks old and still needs to steep, first tastes are pleasant but sweet with almost a pineapple aftertaste like the juice at the bottom of the can); Mom and Pop's Tobacco Haze (way sweet). There's probably more but these are the ones I can think of or were close by to remind me. Clearly I am not in need of juice anytime soon!

For coffees and teas, I haven't tried that many. I have a couple from High Desert Vapes since they're a local vendor for me, I've tried all of AiV's and love Afternoon Tea, Ahlusion's Boba Tea and Masala Chai are also faves, but they're sweet. The spiciness in the chai gives a little edginess I like. A few others, but I'm happy with Kona Kick so I don't really shop around on those. Most people seem to want creamy and/or sweet coffee so I'm hesitant to follow the crowd on those. I hope that gives a little perspective and help!

Torque56 or Longhorn from Halo.

Legend or Serendipity from Heather's Heavenly Vapes.

Virginia, Backo, or Adirondack from Backwoods Brew. (Malty is just a cotton candy flavor. Very mild. Smoke tastes like hickory wood being burned.)

So the Malty is just a mild sweet vape then, that's all? Yeah maybe Smokey wouldn't be so good. It sounds like you've tried quite a few from Backwoods-did you have to steep them? (I get so sick of having all this stuff I have to wait so long to vape!)

Well, it looks like Dark Horse, Pirate's Booty and Big Spirit will def be on my order. Can anyone tell me the steeping time on those, if any?
Smooth criminal is probably too sweet though.
I'd love to know if the Back Woods Smoke & Malty are good.

Malty is good but not a tobacco its almost like cotton candy

I've had 2 backwoods brew tobacco's Bluebacco and maple tobacco
both were very light on the tobacco for me

Still not sure what you are looking for but it seems a stronger tobacco type

The aromatic line from ahlusion is there stronger tobacco's no steep needed for any

Also really enjoying want2vaoe's RY4 good really strong smoky tobacco with caramel and vanilla
I will probably try their smoke as well

If you really do like string tobacco's should get a RDA like the IGO-L because there hard on clero coils

and you should check out this thread also

Yeah, malty is a very weak vape in my opinion. Barely any flavor for me, and even less kick. I have tried just about every tobacco that BBW offers, plus a few others. Steeping is a must with BBW juices, since they make them to order. Tobacco flavors need at least 2 weeks to steep before they are even close to ready for vaping. That goes for tobaccos from any vendor. If you want juices that are ready straight from the mailbox, go with Vermillion River. Those are pre-steeped for 2 weeks before they are made available for sale. Go with Cowboy Killer, K-Max, or Marb #3. KY Premium is a must try juice IMO, but that is a sweet nutty caramel tobacco. May not be exactly what you are looking for, but oh so good! KY Blend No. 7 is my favorite from Vermillion River, though.

OK Back to BBW for a minute. Let me tell you about Virginia. Back when I was still in a transition period, and I was both smoking cigarettes and vaping, Virginia was the flavor that put me over the top with vaping. I actually compared my American Spirit full flavor with BBW Virginia, side by side. A puff on my cig, a vape of Virginia, puff, vape, puff, vape.....there were indistinguishable. Virginia tastes EXACTLY like the smell you get from a freshly opened pack of cigarettes. I mean identical! It is my go to vape, and even after 2 years of vaping, and even getting into DIY juices, I still always keep a bottle of BBW Virginia on hand. Just sayin'. I'll get off my soapbox now. ;)

I'm vaping Hangsen Virgina right now. If you want something with a kick in the morning, vape 24mg juice. Switch to a lower level after the first tank or carto. With any juice, it's the nic level that satisfies.

There's nothing wrong with taping off slowly on the cigs. Stopping abruptly leaves you wanting early on. Try periodically not having the cig at various times in your journey while still vaping 24mg. When you find the point where you don't crave them, you are there. I went way too long without trying to dump the cigs (two years). I think I could have dropped the cigs after 6 months, but never tried it. I kept on having one after a meal and a couple with coffee, but didn't need them and didn't know it.

Once you are happy with no cigs at all, begin dropping your vaping nic level about 25% at a time. I went from 24 to 18 to 12, and I'm poised to drop to 8 the next time. That's only been a few months in the transition. I haven't smoked a cig in well over a year and a half.

Your journey may vary, but we all have to find our own weaning level.

I had to respond to your comment on BWB Virginia. That was my vaping utopia! It was one of the first flavors I ordered from Don and from the first puff, I was forever hooked. You are spot on describing the flavor, it is indeed the taste of the smell of a fresh opened pack of cigs. When I started my DIY venture, BWB Virginia was the first flavor I attempted to replicate. It took me several months to perfect it but I finally nailed it and keep plenty of it mixed as my primary vape. It satisfies like nothing else can. I will never be without it!

Oh, I have seen your posts about your BWB Virginia clone. I am working on my own, but since I am vaping zero nic, I can't use TA, so I am still looking for a way to get that last lil' kick in there. Soon, very soon. ;)

Thanks for all that detail! I ordered a bunch of stuff from high desert vapes when they had the big sale, some are promising but it seems like they all need to steep more for a while to know. I have a bunch of AIV steeping also, I also liked the afternoon tea, I like teas in general. That chai you mentioned sounds really good, even if it is sweet since chai is normally sweet anyway, I've been wondering where there is a really spicy chai. I have a few coffees that are nice yet unremarkable.

Sounds like the virginia a winner too, I asked them if i can get in 100vg and am waiting to hear back. I'd love to know your recipe! I think I need to start DIY-ing.

My recipe has changed but it's very simple. I put 3 drops of pure TA in a 10 ml bottle of FA Virginia. Shake, shake, shake, as it's quite hard to get fully mixed and will have to be shaken well before each use. The recipe is as follows...

I mix mine at 60/40 PG/ VG and 18mg nicotine
3% Virginia/TA
10% EM
1 drop apple cider vinegar per 5ml

It will take a couple of days for it to "ripen" :thumb:

I wonder if I could substitute some MTS Vape Wizard in mine to round it out a little. Also missed the ACV. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll save this for if/when I end up DIYing.
so let me get this right...

3% Virginia/TA (that's the nicotine then?)
10 ml bottle of FA Virginia (Flavor Arts Virgina?)
10% EM (what is EM?)
1 drop apple cider vinegar per 5ml

So with all your help I ordered these for now:

Heathers Heavenly Vapes
Dark Horse

Backwoods Brew
Virginia
Malty (couldn't resist trying it)

Kinda thinking of trying one of these also: WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice

I'm also keeping the Big Spirit in mind too, but I ended up on a buying spree* for various things and so I'll just settle on those for now :)

When Lynda lists Virginia/TA, she is talking about the mix she made of FA Virginia flavor with Tobacco Absolute(TA) added to it. She then uses that mixture as 3% of the total mix. The nicotine is added separately.
FA Virginia - 10 ml Tobacco Flavor Virginia (FA)
TA - Tobacco Absolute Blend PG ( TFA )

TA is a highly concentrated Bulgarian tobacco extract. DIYers use it to add a dark woodsy, smoky, almost ashtray flavor to their mixes. It is a very potent flavor, so it must be used very sparingly. In Lynda's case, she only adds a tiny amount to a flavor, and then adds that as a flavor in and of itself, so the TA is highly diluted, but it doesn't take much to make a big difference.

Yes, FA means FlavourArt.

EM is Ethyl Maltol. Sometimes it is called ethyl maltol, and sometimes it is sold as cotton candy flavor. Ethyl Maltol 10% PG Solution (TFA)
Same thing, different name - 10 ml Cotton Candy Flavor (TFA)

HHV Dark Horse and BWB Virginia are good places to start. Can't blame you for wanting to try Malty. Just be sure to steep all 3 juices for a few weeks. The color change in Dark Horse and Virginia should be quite noticeable.

MTS Vape Wizard
FA - MTS Vape Wizard - MyFreedomSmokes.com
that's very interesting, I'll keep that in mind for DIYing too!

What is "ACV"?

Yeah, MTS is a good additive to have in your DIY arsenal. MTS stands for More, Thicker, Smoother. It rounds out juices by taking away the sharp notes and making subtle flavors a little more noticeable. It won't fix bad juices, but it can make a good juice become a great juice. 10 ml MTS Vape Wizard Flavor (FA)

ACV = Apple Cider Vinegar.

Ah! OK thanks for explaining!

Dang, I have to steep for 3 weeks!? I was reading something about speeding up the steeping process by shaking the bottles and putting them in warm water, shaking again, etc. and I was wondering if I might speed it up some by placing them near the radiator, and shaking them every day....? Can't hurt to try maybe.
