I been searching the ECF forum, and online trying to find a way to make my own flavor, since dripping is becoming way too expensive. I noticed a lot of posts mention Lorann flavorings, I seen a bake supply store near my house yesterday that carried Lorann flavoring. I found a thread listing some of the flavors, but didn't mention anything about sugar.

Post was from 2009, so not sure if new negatives were found since about harmful ingredients, or where that info was found?

When I went to the store and read the label, one said sugar free, so I don't know if the others have sugar? From what I been reading, I know not to use oils, or sugar, and not sure about alcohol, because I hear it's ok in the linked forum above and that it's not in other posts involving vanilla extract. I also read somewhere not to use certain artificial sweeteners, like splenda I think? I can't find all ingredients on Lorann's website, and see websites selling any type of Loranns for ejuice even with oil, so I just want to be safe.

My plan is to buy offline and use some pure glycerin USP from CVS, and purchase bottles of 24mg of menthol and mix in about 1:8 and make a fruit/mint flavor. I drip and now only vape at 3mg.

I would see what Lorann flavours that vape suppliers are selling and buy those ones, It will be cheaper if you buy your nic and menthol too and you will have a lot more flexibility when you're mixing.

I seen a few sites that sell Lorann flavorings, BUT they also sell the one's made with oils and other unsafe flavors, since I hear butter flavors have a certain ingredient that is unsafe. I also have not seen any full ingredients or any ingredients on those type of sites selling flavors.

If staying away from Diacetyl and other diketones is important to you, then you're left with FlavourArt and some from TFA. Unfortunately, they can only be purchased online depending on where you live. Pure Vapes has FA samples for $3, and people use such a low amount, it will last a bit. Wizard Labs has TFA 8ml testers $1.49. Many of Lorann's flavors are Diacetyl free, but they don't mention other diketones which can be as harmful.

I'm not sure about diacetyl and other diketones, if I remember diacetyl is for butter flavors? Which I wouldn't purchase. Is that something that would be on an ingredients label, if not how could I research a product for it, other than a manufacturers website?

Thanks for the reply, I'll look into that for the future, but at the moment I'd prefer to just buy locally.

Sorry about that, I missed the part about wanting to buy locally. I saw wanting to buy relatively safe flavors and FA came to mind. Good luck with your DIY. :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

No worries, it maybe helpful in the future for more options, if or when I decide to do online shopping.

Cheers,
Steve

I'm assuming that if your area code is 415, you're not too far from this place: Perfumer's Apprentice

I just checked google and it's about an hour at least away.

I almost started writing an essay, but instead, here's a little blog about it. It's short and worth the read if you are cautious of certain flavors. Unfortunately, it's an ingredient that is in quite a few flavors.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...etyl-acetyl-propionyl-acetoin-flavorings.html

So if I got it correct, than I can be purchasing a product with those ingredients, but won't know if less than 1% is used.

Thanks, everyone for your replies, I was reading them while in the store, along with other posts as well I ended up purchasing the coconut flavor, since it said it was safe on 2 other posts and found another saying that Diacetyl is not used in Lorann products, I hope it's safe?

Best Lorann Oils Vaping Spreadsheet - 2013 | Best Vapor Flavors

Ingredients:

"Water, Proplene Glycol, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Xantham Gum, Ethyl Alcohol, Triacetin."

I'm going to try to mix it with USP glycerin and 24 mg coconut flavor e juice. Is there anything I should know?
