need help ASAP!!!

I don't know what I was thinking but I bought some Sony vtc3 18650 batteries from ebay thinking they where the real deal. I should of done my homework but I read in some other threads that it was fine to buy batteries from ebay/Amazon. Now in my ignorance I may have an unsafe mod and it scares the hell out of me. How am I supposed to know if these are fake or not? I knew not to buy from china/Japan so I bought from a us seller but I failed to look that they where manufactured in Japan. If these are fake than 891 people could be in a very bad predicament! If anyone has any info or can help me please let me know ASAP!!! Thanks guys.

the only thing i seem to notice on mine is that the negative post looks like its raised. Although it could just be from the quality of the photograph. Everything else looks spot on real. This is either the real deal or an amazing fake

164,000 plus sales and a 99.6% positive rating should be all you need to look at.

With a track record like that one you're probably good to go.

While his sales/rating may be excellent that still doesn't mean I should automatically assume that I am getting an authentic product. If he has one bad batch it could be catastrophic and between you and me I like my body/face just the way it is!

I disagree. That's 164,000 total sales, not just batteries. Fakes are proliferate, and I'm willing to bet more people don't know how to even tell if their batteries are genuine.

Pictures posted on the auction may not be pictures of the actual product. You won't know until you get them what they really look like.



Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

I just read through about all of the information on the links you sent me they where very informative I am still concerned if mine are real or not. From what I can gather from the pictures they appear to be real and considering Sony quit physically making vtc after the 3 I have renewed hope that these are real. Of course if im wrong I would hate to loose my jaw. im still hoping someone will be able to tell me if there real or fake but than again looks can be deceiving.... Well see when they actually arrive but from what I can gather from the pictures they appear real.

I absolutely refuse to use egos id rather use my analogs than touch another ego 2 years is to much!

edit: This is my first mech mod i plan on starting off 1-1.8ohm on my rda than eventually once im more comfortable i will move into sub-ohming

The kick will regulate just like a VV/VW device. Just stay above 1 ohm and you should be fine. An ECF member posted this video on battery safely not too long ago. He does a pretty good job explaining the relationship of coil resistance and battery amps, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQbWVHSiltQ.

More than likely you'll never know for sure if your batteries are genuine. If you decide to start building sub-ohm coils at some time in the future, you may just want to buy other batteries from a known reputable vendor.

BTW, you may also want to think about getting some 28G kanthal. This is a pretty good online calculator for coils and battery drain, http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp.

ill definitely look into getting some 28g wire next month. As for now im going to use the 26g wire and hope for the best with my battery if it appears to be genuine with all the other information that ive read I guess ill just have to trust it. I plan on using the kick mostly for my tank but on my rda mmm that would be nice.

Yeah it is quite scary with the picture everything appears to be genuine though so once I get it ill look over every link again hopefully this will all work out. If worst comes to worst though ill return it and get a legitimate vtc.

I've found 'fakes' to work about as well as the name brands. Parts don't always fit seamlessly and quality is sometimes compromised, but you also probably didn't pay the same price as you would for an authentic brand name version either. Usually, there is a 'giveaway' term in the title or description that gives you a clue it is not the real deal.

In my experience, I've only had one 'bad' buy . . . a knock-off protank 2 that broke before I even used it--which I saved for parts. However, I've got several other knock-off's, tanks and batteries, that work exceptionally well. I have both the name brand products and the knock-off and there is a better quality 'feel' in the name brand version. But, I also paid a heftier price. The knock-off's (and their price) suit me just fine. I can upgrade as I go, if I choose.
