Sup fellow vapours!

I know its most likely been asked before but wanted to know peoples intake on carto tanks vs viva novas or kanger protanks? I've been vaping for a couple weeks now and really enjoying it! been using a couple of clearomizer and a kanger bottom coil clearomizer (one of my clearomizer sometimes stops working which is odd) but a lot of the time these can be a pain not the best vape and quite often leaks. I got a pack of 5 cartomizers in my starter kit too which I just started vaping today and there quite nice but I prefer something thats going to be less maintenance and less frequents of refills as with my lifestyle when im out or at work its kind of hard to just refill.

So I'm looking to get into either cartotanks or viva nova/ kanger protanks but few questions :)

How long do carto's in the tanks usually last before replace and do they get quite a hot vape like I have experienced with cartomizers tonight? and how often do you need to change the heads in the viva novas etc? also how easy is it to set up the carto tank systems? are there many leaks with these devices?

Any help would be great, thank you :)

well vivi nova tanks and protanks are very much different animals. so you have to chose between three not two. for me I chose the protank until they can come up with a way to recoil and re wick cartos (which I like the most but also like them the least because of the disposable carts), I'll stick with the protanks. I hate my nova tank.

Speaking only from my personal experience, go with tank cartomizers. They beat clearos, hands down. Vivi novas are wildly inconsistent and even at their best, are still not as good as tanks.

I'd recommend a vendor, but I don't wanna be accused of being a double secret agent.

Hey your the first other vaper in Kansas I've seen. I'm in Lenexa.

thats what I keep hearing, like a plastic taste from the viva but never heard of metallic taste from the protank, I think I got a plastic taste from one of my clearomizers today was not fun on a quick 5 minute smoke break so thats also why I want something more consistent with tastes dont get many breaks at work and dont want what feels like a wasted smoke break if something messes up in my vape session

I've been looking a lot at carto tanks recently do they leak less than nova tanks? Also which would be more cost efficient? carto tanks or viva nova? If your just buying and disposing the cartos / heads and not rebuilding as im still quite new dont want to mess around with that yet :p
Yes, they leak less. I've never had a problem with my carto tanks leaking. And also more cost effecient. My cartos are $1.79 each and last as long as 4 weeks. That said, be careful where you buy them. Get smoktech if you can, it's worth the extra money.

I spend about $10 a week vaping. Made my own ecig mod using AAA batteries, make my own juice, and use strictly tank cartos (now that I've been burned time and time again by clearos and vivi novas).

4 weeks per cartomizer?! wow how do you keep that up? I heard its like 1 week a carto ? I'm looking at getting into DIY e juice soon but first experimenting with how I vape want to get that hands down before I do that part :) Are Boge Cartomizers just as good as smoktech in that case?

I know 4 weeks per carto is not typical, but in my rotation, I get that a lot. The worst I've got is about a week. I buy from one vendor and I think it's superior quality. The only time I bought cartos elsewhere, they were terrible and the entire 5 pack was unusable. That's why I say, be careful where you buy them from. Even at a week, you will save big money.

I used to replace them every week, but with my VW it went to 3 weeks. I guess I get a better burn and less chance of gunking up my coil.

I used to DIY my juice but hated that feeling like I was brewing my own beer. I just buy six packs now. get it?
Yeah. I'll add that I vape my DIY box mod at 4.8 volts, using 3.2 SINGLE coil cartomizers.

I'm convinced I've pretty much hit the sweet spot in terms of volts vs. resistance. Not only do my carts last longer, it's a better tasting vape than when I was rocking the dual coil cartomizers.

haha just buy a six pack :) Yeh do you clean out the cartos? or typically not because its in the tank and you just top up and refill? I'll give those carto's a try if there on the vapeescape website (thats the supplier I've been using so far for my vaping suppys) I know he has punched boge carto 5 packs not bad priced and even if they only last a week thats a hell of a nice saving right there! Right so have decided to give carto tanks a try then! Any advice on a first decent tank I could get? Sorry for the many questions :)

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I wouldn't care if I never touched another cartomizer again.

And just for the record I've had a Vision vivi Nova version 1 going for well over a year that has never once gurgled or leaked so much as a nano-drop of juice. All it ever does is put out clouds of good tasting vapor.

I just had to throw that out there, I would hate to see a thread with consensus.

If you're going straight tank and cartomizer, almost any tank will work to start. I like the artemas locking tanks, but you have to buy the flanged cartos which are harder to come by. I buy from mad vapes and their cartos are great! Not sure about other vendors.

These tanks, or one like them will work just fine.

Dual Coil 510 Tank Cartomizer

The real trick is getting your resistance right with the cartomizers. I recommend you vape at 5 volts and use a 3 or 3.2 SINGLE coil cartomizer, or a 1.5 OR 2ohm DUAL COIL cartomizer. If you're vaping at less volts, adjust accordingly. I get good results with my ego batteries using 3.2 single coils.

Never tried cleaning these cartos. Never saw the need as cheap as they are.

I love my protank. I don't know if I would say it has a metallic taste, but to each his own. It definitely is very clean and clinical tasting. If that's what you're looking for I'd say give it a shot. It is leaps and bounds better than my polycarbonate clearos, no contest and the vapor stays cool even when the coil and post are getting warm, one of the advantages (IMO) of a bottom coil.

just my $0.02
