Hi all--

I'm totally new to e-cigs, though I have done lots of surfing around, including on this site. Before that, I found several review sites that list what the reviewers see as the best e-cigs. Most of those were more the traditional style (GreenSmoke, etc.--cig-a-likes). Based on that information, I ordered a Premium PR110 Starter kit because it wasn't bottom of the line but it was reasonable and got good reviews on several sites. I love the design, and the flavor of the cartridges is good if a little weak, but though it has helped me cut down a little on my smoking (from 1 pack to 1/2 pack per day), it's not quite enough to satisfy me because I don't feel like I'm getting enough vapor into my lungs. It's a little bit like sucking a very thick milkshake through a straw. However, a friend at work let me try her Joye 510 and even though I don't like the style as much (I prefer it to look and feel as much like a cigarette as possible), I got a much better hit off it than the Premium.

So, I am thinking I may like to have two types of e-cig. One that is more designed like a traditional cigarette with an automatic battery (like the Premium, though I'm open to other brand suggestions as I'm still in the return window--I also have a Breathe Fresh on order to try), and cartridges for convenience (with good flavor options as I like vanilla, chocolate, and clove). And if there aren't any that style that produce enough taste, throat hit, and vapor, another one along the lines of the Joye 510 (ie. atomizers and e-liquid). If I do go with that one, does anyone have experience in terms of whether the automatic battery works as well as the manual? I really don't like the idea of having to press a button but if that's what it takes to have something that will actually replace smoking for me I'm open to trying it. Also, if there is another one you'd recommend instead of the Joye 510 I'd be open to that as well.

So, what is important to me: (1) something strong enough to replace my cigarettes completely (not necessarily nicotine-wise, as I hope to taper off that completely and right now I smoke Winston Ultra Lights, but something that offers good throat hit and vapor), (2) something easy and convenient, (3) lots of good flavor options.

Finally, can you name some reputable vendors (of e-cigs and cartridges & liquid) with fast shipping, good customer service, and made in America juices? I have seen Smokeless Image come up quite a bit, but I'd like some more options as well. I want to make sure what I order is safe and legitimate (not a knock-off claiming to be something it's not).

I have tried to do my own research and have checked some of the threads here, but it is overwhelming so I thought if I said specifically what I was looking for someone here might be able to help. Thanks so much!

Hi NCGirl, Very well formed first post. Welcome to the ECF.
For you IF slim style batteries is a must have, I would strongly suggest a kit from Smokeless Image, here is a link. Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Starter Kits They have incredible customer service, well made products, and they perform incredibly. I would suggest the longer 78mm batteries in an effort to keep you away from the charger as much as possible. They have a huge selection of flavors available and in my opinion would be the best best of any slim battery unit to be what you are searching for. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

I started off wanting a cigarette style ecig and went with one of vapor nines. Didn't keep me off cigarettes. Went to ego's. They worked for a few months. Then came the twist. This is what kept me off cigarettes. I'm now up to a provari with the twist as a back up and have never looked back.

Thanks so much for your insights, everyone. Caridwen, I smoke a pack a day and have been smoking for 22 years. I don't smoke at work because I'm not allowed to and I wouldn't be allowed to vape there either. I usually smoke 2-3 cigarettes on the way to work and 2-3 cigarettes on the way home, and pretty much chain smoke through the evening. Hoping not to vape quite as much but probably will at first anyway. I would have access to chargers most of the time.

Going to look into the Volt--any thoughts on it vs the Joye 510 for anyone who's tried both or knows someone who has? Thanks.

From your self descriped requirements. Sounds like the Volt would be a good choice. I went from a free trial e- cig to a ego c twist. Kept me off smokes. I must say even though you disclaimed Nic content, for me and from what I have read, finding the proper nic content for you is key to keeping you off regular cigs. If you find yourself wanting an analog after you are done vaping, BINGO!! you need more nic to satisfy your craving... Just a thought. At first, the proper nic content is more important than your equipment... ;-)~
