OK, let me start off with a little about me.

I'm 25 years old, and have been smoking for about 10 years. My wife and I would like to try ecigs to cut down or quit smoking traditional cigs. I smoke full flavors pall malls now and prefer the taste of Marlboro's over anything else. We need to find an e cig kit for a good price that tastes good, with a good "hit" like a traditional cig has.

I've been looking at smoke tip online, and they seem to have good prices and reviews. I work long days and work out of vehicle, so a long lasting battery and carto would be preferred.

My mom just got an e cig as a gift, although I don't know the brand. It came from a convenient store nearby. I tried it and liked it, so I may go look at their prices. She's had it for a week and hasn't charged it nor replaced the carto yet, but for all I know she may not use it very often. She said the refills are around $13 for 5... is that good or bad?

I guess I just want to get the best e cig for the price. Something that would feel and taste natural for a smoker and last long enough to make it through a work day.

The ones from the convenience stores, etc., tend to be more expensive in the long run than what you can get online. I suggest an Ego, a Kgo, a Riva, or an E-Power. My first e-cig was a Kgo from Hoosier. For $44 you get two complete setups. KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit
The charge lasts a day to a day and a half. I have been very happy with it.

Yes, it is really confusing! Make sure you get a kit that has 510 threading; it is the most versatile.

I second the kgo model-LOVE mine! I started out with a smokeshop cheapy ecig-the cig2o. It worked well enough but 3 replacement carts were 10 bucks! The night we bought it I looked it up online and found out I could refill it-and bought juice right away. Had it for about 2 weeks, just refilling the same 2 cartomizers that came with it, and then bought another cig style setup from elitevaporworks-still use it even :) Then about a month later, bought the kgo. Now I rotate the kgo with my other setup at home, but the kgo goes out with me since I don't have to worry about the battery dying!

since the kgo was already linked, here is the other startup I like/use, in case you want a cig style to start with Signature Series Standard Starter Kit

Also, I have notice that most of the gas station kits are a different threading. Most people use 510 (the kgo uses that) or the 808 (the elitevaporworks model). Not sure what the gas station ones are but around here, none will work on either one of my setups. Good luck!

100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping (vaping less than 1/2 the time) with a standard resistance single coil atomizer or cartomizer (all that slim ecigs can use). The fat 450mah+ models or mods can also use the hotter LR (low resistance, lower ohms) attys and cartos though there is a small risk to the battery if you go below 1.7v with mass produced encased batteries (like Ego, Kgo, Vgo etc) and some will only go lower on mods (large various shape models with removable industrial batteries). Lower resistance attachments use of the charge faster so you will not get an hour out of 100mah. So if you want a real cigarette feel, assume you will be using about 2ohms )2ohm Boge cartos are most popular) and will get maybe 40min out of a 100mah.

If you work at a desk you could consider something like an Ego passthrough with inline battery - you can run it off power all day and it will charge it as you vape, then you can use it off power (the amount of charge it will have though is dependent of how much time you did not vape it).

Alternately you can keep a charger at work like I do for each of your models and charge one battery while using the other.

And note - most people end up using cartomizers for everyday vaping so don't based you decisions on what kind of fancy atomizers or tank atomizer something comes with. Pay attention to the batteries and threading. 510 threading has the most stuff. KR808D-1 threading has an OK amount of stuff.

If you are looking for more traditional style ecigs, you might try Smoklessimage or Vapor 4 Life. You would have to switch out batteries once or twice during the day, but you do get a pcc, so you can charge one battery while you use another. Good luck and Welcome to ECF! :)

I'm definitely looking for a cigarette look and feel. Seems like it would help me more that way.

I really don't think you will be happy with anything smaller than an ego/kgo/riva like previously suggested. You just are not going to be happy with the th and vapor from the smaller models coming from pall mall and marl reds. And I believe they are actually cheaper than the smaller models.

Check out the video in the "what stage are you in" post. Funny, but so, so true. Start with at least stage 3. :)

And RUN as fast as you can from the convience store brands. And the mall kiosk. They are total ripoffs.

That's what I ordered today.. the kgo from hoosier e, if you order from them remember to use the 5 percent code they mention on the main screen.. takes off two dollars.

Yes, you want a cartomizer. You fill them with liquid. However, you will use an atomizer for trying out new juices before you decide if you want to fill a cartomizer with it. You will need a drip tip too.

Let's say you do buy the Kgo. You will also need to buy a drip tip. A 5 pack of 2.5 cartomizers, and a bottle or two of juice in 18 mg. will keep you going for awhile.

The Mega eGo Dual Coil Carto kit isn't the cheapest, but it isn't expensive either. I really like it because it comes with great 5ml cartos that don't need filling all the time.

Long Battery Life
Easy to Fill
Not too Big
Little to No Leaking
Great Reviews
510 Threading
So, until something better comes along, I'm recommending this guy:

eGo Dual carto case kit

Each eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit includes:
2 eGo 1100mah batteries with blue LED.
4 eGo Mega Dual Coil LR 1.7ohm Cartomizers 2 black 2 clear
1 eGo charger (Please use this charger only on these batteries)
1 med zippered carrying case black
1 vaperite Lanyard

also available here:

http://www.vaporbeast.com/Mega_Smok_Tech_Ego_p/sk3.htm

But they only have the batteries in 900mAh

The Smoke Tip looks like a KR808 type ecig. There is nothing wrong with them, except you will need to change batteries several times per day. If you have some spare batteries and cartos you should be fine. :)

OK, thanks. I may try the ego style too, but the smoke tip was one that appealed to me the most. I have an inverter in my work vehicle, so I can always have a battery on charge while I use another. Looks like most kits come with two batteries.

Hubby finally went to bed so I was able to gain control of the computer and see what you are looking at... I noticed that the cartos from smoke tip come only up to 16 mg. This may be a little low for a full flavor smoker, but you didn't say how much you smoke...? If they are not strong enough, you can buy stronger juice to refill these- most start with 18-24 mg juice- or if they are 808 buy blank cartos to fill yourself with your juice of choice.

Yeah I realized that after posting. I used to smoke a pack a day, but for the last year 2 years I've been smoking about a half pack a day. It looked like most of the 808's I looked at called 16mg full strength. I think that would be ok for me, pall mall fulls are a bit weak... closer to a Marlboro medium I'd say. So if I buy the smoke tip, which is an 808, will other makers of this style cartomizers work with this battery? And if so, are there any cheaper and/or better options for prefilled cartos?

Yeah, 16 would be a good starting point I think. You can adjust up or down as needed when you get the feel of how it is working for you.

Other cartos... let me look around and see. I'm a 501 girl so I'll have to check. oops, I mean 510.

Here are some blanks for a good price: http://www.ecigsupply.com/Kr-808d1-Blank-Cartomizers-_p_43.html They are not going to have that orange/white cig "look" though. That will probably be kinda hard to kind anywhere else at a really good price.

Vapor4life has prefilled cartos for 10.50 for 5 cartos. I think these are 808s.

Bloogplanet also has 5 packs for 10.99, again not sure these are 808s.

Filling your own is definitely going to be your most cost effective option, but if you are dead set on the look including the color of a cig, you can always get your smoke tip cartos and do several refills with your own juice before they die.

Sorry for jumping in on the convo, just wanted to add my 2 cents. This is the road travelled by many, you are not the first and definatly won't be the last. I even walked down this road - "I want something that looks and feels like a cigarette". Nobody could talk me out of it, the words eGo, kGo, Riva, Lava tube, Provari were all japanese to me! I found Smokestik online and fell in love.

Anyway after using that cigarette style e-cig for 2 weeks i got so tired of having to charge my batteries every hour or so and refilling was a pain because the cartos that come with that kit are not designed to be refilled, i was supposed to be loyal to that company for the rest of my vaping life and buy their prefilled ones.

I came back on here to be guided to the eGo, and let me tell you i could give a rats bum if this thing looks like a cigarette or not. It is not a cigarette it is a PV, and i am so glad i didn't give up on vaping after my little romance with the smokestik. I use 1000 mAh batteries which last 10 hours, Echo-e cartomizers which i fill once a day, sometimes twice if i am chain vaping and the best part of all... I get to choose the flavour and nic strength.

So if you do go down that road, it doesn't matter aslong as you give away the smoking habit. Then don't hesitate to come back here when you just feel the need for something more, you will then be guided into the wonderful world of vaping. Goodluck.
