Need help fixing broken G6 (KR808 stick battery)

Hey ECFers, I am in need of some technical help. My EGO VV broke, and while waiting for the new one to ship I've been using my old Halo G6 batteries. One of the two is a 102 mm (420 mAh), and it is more or less broken. It works sometimes, but the clearo may need to be screwed in multiple times and the battery may need a bit of a shake. It tends to work when it's upside down (clearomizer pointing down), but stops working when turned right side up. I can feel the contents of the battery rattling around when I shake it, which doesn't happen on the fully working 78 mm one. Also, the center pin/contact of the battery is loose, and can be pushed back and forth (once again, this doesn't seem to be the case for the 78 mm). If it's any help, the 102 mm has a wider contact than the 78 mm. I was wondering if anyone could help me fix the battery, or if there are any tear down videos of the G6 or another KR808 stick/pen style that would be really helpful as well. Since the plastic cap at the end with the light is removable, I was thinking about taking it off and stuffing something in the metal housing to keep the actual internal battery in the right position, but I'm not sure if it's safe since there's a little circuit board (if that's the proper term, sorry for the lack of electronics knowledge) at the top that houses the LED, and presumably some other important wiring. Plus it would probably prevent the light from being visible once the cap is replaced, which wouldn't exactly be ideal. Please help guys, I'm not sure I could deal with only having one 280 mAh battery until the new one arrives Thursday .

Also, it's worth mentioning that I'm somewhat upset with Halo. My roommate also ordered a 72 mm and a 102 mm. Both of our 72 mm bats are still working perfectly (or as perfectly as a 280 mAh pen can work, any way), but both 102 mm bats broke very quickly, within 6 weeks or so. My roommate's did experience a fall, but it just rolled off his bed onto the ground, which is only 2 something feet. After that his started having an issue similar to mine, except it would only work after whacking it on a hard surface, and then would stop working a few minutes later. Eventually it broke completely and he threw it away. I never checked the center pin, but it did have the same rattling of the internal components as mine. I guess it could just be bad luck, but it certainly makes me suspicious about the quality standards on the 102 mm batteries...

Alright, after a little more experimenting I think I fixed it. I had a thin sheet of the soft, flexible kind of Styrofoam lying around. I took the plastic cap off the battery and pushed the edge of the metal casing through the foam, which created a perfectly sized piece that fit inside the casing. Then I put the cap back on. It's only been a few minutes, but so far the pressure from the foam keeps the battery in place, and the foam is thin and porous enough that the light still shines through it. Hopefully it will work permanently from now on.

not 420mAh... pretty certain they're 320, or if not, then max of 380mAh. Good job on the fix. temporary though it may be.

I have never needed to, getting near a year and I have had two batteries fail but nothing like that. The first one just started dying quickly and then suddenly it was hot to the touch so I tossed it. The second one was an auto that I loaned out and came back dead, shows a full charge on the charger but no juice when you draw. It doesnt rattle or anything, I was keeping it to disect but havent gotten a round tuit yet.

Wow, I've got a couple of Halo's G6 manuals, 78mm, and they still work flawlessly when I use them, which sadly isn't often despite the fact that they are awesome little batteries.

Only had them a couple of months, but haven't run into anything even REMOTELY like this. I'm curious, do you keep them in your pocket without a case? Do you leave cartos/mini-tanks/etc on them in your pocket? What other kinds of problems have you run into?

I have a modified G6 case for my bats that will also hold a couple of mini-tanks/e-Smart clearos, so I don't have them just floating around in my pocket. Never could stand the Halo cartos. No matter what was in them, it tasted like plastic. But regardless, my G6's have always been protected in some way. I'm guessing that you just put them in a pocket with cartos/clearos still on them?

Really interested to know.

sounds like a good fix. im getting some 102mm batteries (tho not from Halo) but another company that sells 808D batteries.
Good reporting - altho, hope i'll never have to worry about it.
So far, my 78mm batteries are good (just past the one month mark).
