They are 650 Mah so you will likely get 5 to 6 hours from a battery. 100 Mah equals about 1 hour vape time depending on what you have on top that atomizes the liquid. Two batteries should easily last a day. I smoked a similar amount to you and one 650 Mah batt can get me almost through a work day and I usually have to switch to the second battery on the way home.

Manual battery means there is a button to push to activate the battery to fire the atomizer. Seems like a pain but become natural pretty fast.

The difference in the Batteries: Manual--you push a button to get vape and flavor. Automatic, no button to push. I thought it would be a bother to keep having to push a button, but it's really not! If you go with an eGo with a clearomizer (plastic looking tube on top of the battery) it usually holds about 1.5 ml of juice, so you can fill it about 5 times with a 10ml bottle of juice. I found that buying from the same source where I bought my kit was easier to start and I am just now starting to try juices from various vendors. The vendors here are awesome!

This is what I bought to start: Ego electronic cigarette The only thing I wish I had was a variable voltage (vv) battery. I truly believe it makes a difference when trying different juices, as they burn better and taste better at various temperatures and this kit's batteries are not vv. They do offer one though, and I will be buying one probably in about another month.

Automatic batteries are not sealed, so if you have a bit of juice leaking from your clearomizer, it can ruin the battery. Manual batteries are sealed, so they will not be ruined by a small amount of juice. I started with eGo twist batteries and still use them...I would recommend them too.
Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories sells juice for a very good price. Use the code "vaporfrombaker" for 10% off at check out. They have over 200 flavors to choose from. I usually recommend White Out or another mint since it is a familiar flavor when starting out. White Out is like white Tic-Tac mints.

I was equally dazzled and confused by all the variety of devices to use - watched videos and searched various web sites.
I settled on a kit primarily because I knew nothing about what I should get or what I needed (still pretty new 1 month non-analogs).
I chose the eGo-T because a lot of users liked it, it had a choice of battery sizes - choose the 1000 Mah (got two batteries in the kit) or the 650 Mah. The 1000 Mah takes at least 4-5 hours to fully charge; kit came with a wall charger and a USB connector which attaches to the wall charger and then to the battery (screws together); it came with the atomizer tank (fill the tank with e-juice which you buy separately). However, I had issues with leakage with these tanks so I purchased a Kanger T2 clearomizer which I unscrew the top and fill (carefully) with my e-juice of choice) then screw the clearomizer onto the battery. I liked the option of being able to shut off the battery while not using it (five clicks to shut off, five to turn it on) when I store it in my purse I am sure that it won't turn on when I am searching for things in there. I'm new to vaping, but I am quite happy with what I bought.
I used to smoke very mild menthol cigarettes and maybe 10-15 a day so I 1) didn't like the taste of tobacco, 2) wanted something fairly light -little throat hit and 3) something smooth and warm. I use 100% VG from Health Food store and add it to some of the flavoured e-juices that I bought (12-16 mg nic in 70% PG and 30% VG (hence the adding of additional VG on my end)).
I instantly quit smoking analogs - I would say it took about 3 weeks to get all the toxins out of my system from analogs.
Best of luck - am sure others will offer their own choices so you may end up with a variety of devices as time goes on.

Will liquid from Mt baker work with say the Apollo ecig? and if so do they have sample packs because i dont see any listed.
Their smallest size bottles are 15ml, and they don't offer smaller. But, their prices are the same for 15ml as some other vendors charge for 6ml.
If you are buying the Apollo starter kit, it comes with pre-filled cartomizers...they already have e-liquid in them.

Yes, if you get the refillable cartomizers for the Apollo. It looks like the ones that come with the kit are prefilled. Don't know about Mt. Baker, but I just got a cool sample pack from AltCig.

You should look around at some other vendors, you can get a vv for fairly cheap now.
