Hello all!

First of all I've had to say that I am a beginner at vaping. After I read tonnes of posts about vaping, I started using a loaned Dripping Atomizer a few days ago. It's a Nimbus Atomizer with a cheap "V3 Telescopic Mechanical Mod" (that's the name on fasttechs page). I really enjoined using the atomizer insted of smoking hookah pipe mainly because of the better taste and zero nicotine liquid.

That's why I need to get my own device. I am going to buy an Zenith V2 Atomizer and need a suitable mod.
I've read alot but still don't know which mod I should buy.

My current Top 3 in descending order:
1. Stingray (Read about issues with the button, is that true?)
2. Pegasus
3. Nemesis

All of them in the Clone Version from fasttech.com. The price is about the same, so no worries about that.
The main thing I am considering about is the material of the mod.

Copper

I don't like the look of copper and the bleed into the hands during the using. In addition copper is theoretically the softer material and the threads should worn out faster. But copper is a far better conductor than steel which means a lower volt drop (theoretically).

Steel

I really like the look of steel and the material is hard enough to protect threads and other parts to worn out. It doesn't stain your fingers but conducts worse than copper.

I don't want to chase clouds, the device should hit hard but it's still for generall use. The more importened factor is the battery life. If copper extends the battery life by far (more than 10 to 20%) I would overlook the negative facts. But if there is no noticable difference between the copper and steel version I would stick to the steel version anyway.

According to the facts I mentioned above, which device or material would you suggest to purchase? Is there better mod except the three ones I suggested?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Looking forward for your answers.

I have a SS Nemesis from Hcigar that hits as hard as my authentic copper mod. Sad but true. I have not experienced any skin discoloration from my copper mod when I use, but I don't have a death grip on it for hours on end. I would also consider am aluminum Nemesis as well. Aluminum is an excellent conductor as well, but a soft metal like copper.

If you are worry about durability, functionality and something that has a tried and true performance...
Stainless Steel Nemesis would be a my choice.

I have the ss nemisis, mixed nemisis, and brass stingray from FT. All work really well. The nemisis is taller and works well with a kick which turns it into a vw device if you prefer. I also have the copper nemisis but am not crazy about the way it tarnishes and smells up my hands. Just got the brass GP paps in today, but haven't used yet. It is really nice for the price.

Yup, +1 on the Nemi vote here. Stingray would be another good bet in the same style.

One other I suggest to everyone is the EHpro EA mod which is the clone of the Electric Angel. It is telescopic so fits any battery with or without a kick and is less "fiddly" than any other type of mod. Hits super hard, looks great, extremely well made. Very much an unsung hero but if you research it on youtube you'll see that all the reviewers rank it up there with the best authenic mods performance wise. Just a thought.

Best of luck!

BTW the Zenith is wonderful, also look at the Quasar which I think is a better unit though I love them both.

If you are buying from FT and you want a good solid mod that will do 18350/18490/500/18650 and you don't want to spend a lot of money right not then grab a Pices or Astro which comes in a SS version. IMHO! The other mods you mention from FT do have a variety of issues that you either take or leave. With the exception of the mods that I mention, all other mods that I've gotten from FT required me to get some upgrade kit from another vender to really enjoy the mod. I have to admit that I have been surprised a couple of time by FT, in that at least 2 recent purchases have been spot on and worked flawlessly thus far without mod upgrade(s) and that the Penny mod and the 26650 Spartan that FT mislabeled as a Panzer . Hope this sheds some light!

The GP paps is in a totally different league as it may be the sleekest, best made mod available but you won't find one at FT...;). Load that bad boy up, it's going to change your view of mods forever.

I just ordered a 4nine mod watched allot of reviews online seems great so far. I don't have allot of experience with mechanical mods this is my first but I have a ton of experience with dc voltage and "voltage drop" issues. I would say the material being used on the exterior has little to no effect on the voltage drop maybe .1 - .2 volts at the very most. I believe the majority of the voltage drop issues people have are film build up on contact points from cheap material being used there. The highest quality material will build a clear film that you can't see from light arcing of low voltages. If the hit gets crappy scratch the contacts you will be good.

I use an Itaste VTR for daily use while I am at work and doing whatever. I use the mech mod when I am sitting on my couch watching tv and relaxing enjoying the vape.. Mech mods are just not as convenient for me to carry in my pocket and just plain ole daily use.

$15.38 GP PAPS Style 18650 Mechanical Mod - brass tube at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

That one gets a lot of love from its owners. I am thinking about grabbing a couple for my out of the house mods.

I have a couple of the brass nemesis from FT and they are fairly well made for the price. The only real issue I have with them is the locking ring will sometimes jump threads and get stuck after a good fall if they land just right. I think dirt got in the threads and wore them down from all the locking and unlocking I do while pocket carrying.

Thanks to all of you for the range of replies. I really appreciate your help a lot.

Despraci Have you ever tried a Stingray or do you just like your Nemesis SS that much? I don't like soft metal that's why copper dropped out and aluminium will also.

klynnn The opportunity of using a kick may be a plus but I am not using one anyway, so that's a fact I don't care about. But good to know that the nemesis could handle that. So your copper mod clones also colour your hand?

Bigflyrodder I've had a look at the EHpro EA Mod you mentioned but I don't like the look and the reviews at FT aren't that great. A button on the side is also a factor I don't like. According to the atomizer I was betweeen the Quasar, the Tobh Atty and the Zenith. Tested all of them and liked the Zenith the most. I don't like the fact that the tobh is only usable in dual coil mode. The Quasar looks great and is close to the zenith, the flavour was a bit better than on the other atomizers. But the deck was so small that I have to redrip very often. The screws get loose easily and the vapour was a bit warmer (same mod, coil, amount of flavour and cotton wool). Closing the airflow holes from the zenith the taste was as good as the Quasar so this is my choice. But thanks for your advice man. Really appreciate it.

jblack741 The price is not a big deal. The mods you suggest are $5 to $8 cheaper and that's not really much. Better take some money and stick with better quality. Upgrading a fire button with magnetics would be a great deal and I am also able to polish or retap the threads if necessary, no big deal.

HughDaHand That's exactly the zenith clone I've had on my list, good to know that it works finde. Thanks.

The GP Paps might be an alternative but I like the floating pin on the stingray/nemesis. Don't like to twist thousand of parts until the battery sits well.

No one really mentioned the stingray or pegasus clone. Is this mod so bad or do you didn't try one by yourself? I really really like the look of the stingray that's why I am asking.

Is the nemesis far better than the stingray?

Looking forward for your answers.

I think I found the perfect compromise between the low voltage drop from a copper mod and the non smelling and shiny steel finish: The Stingray X Mod. It has a inner coppertube which is coated with stainless steel. looks really great. I think this is the one to go. What do you think about guys?

On fasttech are two different version, should I go with the black box or the one in a wwhite bigger box.
I've read about a rumor that says black boxes are from infinite which is the best manufactory for clones.
Which one should I take?

Great choice on that stingray x. It has a more modern look (blend of copper with the finish of ss). The design looks as though it is engraved than etched. I myself was looking into one, but I honestly can't add anymore to my collection...LOL.

Two options; black or white box. I myself have not heard of who manufactures what, but I only see reviews on the white box and all have been positive. The difference between the two looks like the finish of the copper. The white box having a dull copper to the black box which has a polished copper. My experience with that kind of copper tone/color is the lighter the tone, the less quality of copper (thinner) it is. But regardless it's a beautiful clone with all the work done to it for that price is a steal.

I have done so! The Stingray X with a Zenith V2, some Drip Tips and a Resistance Tester were ordered from fasttech. Costs me about $60 shipped. I've had a look at a tobeco Stingray X today but there were to big gaps betweeen the tubes so I've purchased a cheaper modell from FT. The Stingray X from local store costs about $60. Compared to the order from Fasttech this is way to high, but I have to wait up to 5 weeks to get the stuff. I am eagerly awaiting this stuff.
Thanks for the advices to all of you.

I am going to let you know when the clone is here, pictures were coming as soon as possible.
