Ok so I've been messing around with rebuilding my octopus. My current build is 6 wraps with 28 awg kanthal. On the ohm meter I'm getting 1.5 ohms but when I looked for hot spots it freaking took foreve to heat up. Was wondering if using 32 awg with 10 wraps work? Also the top of the zmax and the atty itself are pretty warm after a few hits and the vapor is kinda meh getting twice as much of vap from a single coil carto. Any advice would be great thanks

28g is a pretty thick wire, I use it because I love low resistance, that being lower then 1-ohm. using it with so many wraps will take longer to heat up but still should have great flavor and vapor. I think there is more going on then just the wire but im soley a genny guy so im unfamiliar with your device.

28 gauge wire is pretty thick and so will not heat as fast as thinner wires. The thicker the wire the lower the resistance but also the more mass takes longer to heat, so a 1.5 Ohm coil with 28 gauge will not heat as fast as a 1.5 Ohm 32 gauge. Try building a 1.5 on your 32 gauge and see if that helps, you will not need as many coils as the thinner wire has higher resistance, 10 wraps with 32 will be really high on the Ohms with 32 gauge. Hope that helps, let us know how it goes.

Yeah 10 wraps with 32g would be lots and lots of resistance. If you want to get 1.5ohm with 32g try a 3/2 or 4/3 wrap.. I do a untwisted double strand of 32g wrapped 3/2 for .8ohm so a single strand wrapped 3/2 should give you right about 1.6(ish)ohms. Or just do another 5 wrap with it for like 2.0ohms and just see how it vapes.

Although I will agree with vapdivrr, sounds like you got something else going on, is it possible one of your post screws isn't tight enough? Could your coil be touching the bottom or inside wall of the Octopus somewhere? Is your 510 connection really dirty? What voltage are you hitting it with? If it's super low then you shouldn't expect much from it anyways..
