Need help switching to ecig

Hi, I am new and I am wondering if someone experienced and honest can help me. I say honest because after watching videos on youtube for the past 2 hours I've come to realise there seems to be a large influence of dishonest reviews driven by the companies that has left me completely confused, wondering if there is actually any product available that is reliable.

I was almost convinced to try V2 ecigs and Halo, but after looking at their Facebook pages, the feedback here is honest and not looking good. I need a company that isn't just re-manufacturing China junk to make a quick buck whilst throwing freebees for people to say "this is a good ecig" and make a BS video.

I am looking for an automatic cigalike, I think they call them.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Tawney and welcome to the forum. I'm not quite certain what you are looking for but this link > Australia/New Zealand Suppliers may help you find it. Look under "starter packs". My experience has been to see most people change quickly from the starter to "Mod's" (ex: eLeaf istick 30W...though the 50W hits the shelves soon) Two of the popular brands of tanks are the Aspire Nautilus, Kanger Aero. (both come in Mini's). I'd advise getting a tank with an adjustable airflow of you go that route, There is a search box at the top of every page which has been an asset to me ... just type in a product or name. Good luck.

Hi again, thanks for the prompt replies, I should of given more info. I like the V2 style cause it is automatic, not too bulky, not too heavy. I want something reliable and easy to use, no fuss kind of thing, like a normal cigarette, but not disposable. I did like the corture series but then the reviews were even worse (apart from the fake ones), does that help a bit?

I tried the cig a like style a couple years ago when they first came out. Didn't work for me, It wasn't the same as a cig, couldn't really dangle it in the lips, too heavy. I am certain they have improved since then. I recently started with a starter pack 650 mah (battery size) "blister pack" and it didn't take me long to want something better. I din't know the success rate or happiness level of the cig a like today, I have just seen great progression towards the mod/tank area, to increase flavor (or clouds, if thats your thing).

Edit : They do make a straight battery upon which a simple to use tank can be mounted. They come in 900 mah, 1100 mah etc.. The starter packs should have them. They are simple to use and make a good backup should you desire to upgrade to a mod. If you're trying to quit smoking, having a backup battery is essential, on most equipment you can't vape when the battery needs recharged.

to be honest.... auto cigalikes are total poop... they dont last, they break easily, they are way too expensive for what they are....
if you plan to make vaping a long term part of your life ( more than a year) consider purchasing a VV/VW mod with exchangable batteries and a tank with replaceable coils ( preferably make your own coils/wicks)

my preference is the SVD by Itaste and the RSST by Smok, other good tanks are the Aqua V2 and just about all of the Kayfun tanks.... there are about a dozen or more new tanks that have come out in the last 6 months that are note worthy but seem to be designed more for heavy hitting vaping

the initial investment for the hardware is a bit more than one generally likes to spend up front but done correctly, its a one time expense...

check out Fasttech.com and look into the electronic cigarette division... lots to choose from.. make a list of what interests you and read the comments on that item from the previous purchasers.... and you can always come back to ECF and get even more input.....

I like the sound of you already! :)

Welcome :)

The internet is full to the brim with dishonest reviews for e-cigs. There are companies with 3, 4 or 5 pages of 5 star reviews which fall into 2 distinct categories.
1) fake, bogus... as in 'planted' there by the company.
2) misguided enthusiasm from newbie vapers who think what they have bought is the answer to their smoking habit.

There are also fake "independent" review sites, where people link to products so they can make a few dollars helping the rip-off brands rip-off some new unsuspecting customers. To my mind, these are the worst. It's not about the money ($100 here or there is not life or death)... it's about corporate control and the big brother internet being used to brainwash the uninitiated. It goes on in every business, but e-cigs have it bad. It would have happened with mobile phones and mp3 players had the internet been so big 10 years ago.

Nearly ALL e-cig hardware is Chinese. Not all of it is junk.

Whatever guff V2 e-cigs emit about their products, I can assure you they are not the best company to buy from. I have followed them for 2 years and would advise you so stay well clear. Many people on here used their products and have fond memories of getting onto the e-cig ladder and will stand by them.

V2 sell the most overpriced e-cig-a-like battery in the world. I cannot find a company that charges more for that $4 battery.

I spent $800 on hardware like this, and it didn't work. I smoked 15 a day.

I also used the UK version of Halo G6 and think they are not great either, nor good value. I like Halo as a company, the liquids are good and the Triton is a half decent kit. The cig-a-likes are different; I don't consider them good value or effective e-cigarettes.

If you go the cig-a-like route, your choices are going to be difficult. Most of the brand systems are too expensive and not good enough.

Keep asking.... this is one of the few places you can trust. :)

Tawney- I understand where you are coming from. I did the cig alike when I started. Blew a lot of money on kit and 1 week later, I bought an ego battery. Unfortunately, those small batteries don't last long and one is not enough. It gets frustrating, real quick. I still use Ego type batteries, because I can stuff them in my pocket, when I'm out and about. I still don't like the big bulky mods, even though I do have an Mvp and am planning on getting an Eleaf Istick.
It's all trial and error. We all go through it. Good luck with your journey:)

Tawney... I am on Aussie Vapers, but you won't find me there, I use an alias.

I think you can import nicotine liquid (personal use, limited in some way), but things may have changed.

There is a UK company that set up an export business to Australia and some of us trolled them into some drastic action. They were quadrupling their charges for batteries and liquid to price gouge Aussies.

You might find information on it if you google "price gouging Australian vapers"

... got to eat, just now. Be back later. :)

The Joyetech eRoll is a very good choice -- it's the one I used to get started, because you can put your own choice of eliquid in it, instead of being stuck with someone else's idea of a good flavor.

HI Tawney and welcome to ECF!!!!

I've been cigarette free for a month. Before that I tried almost every cig-a-like available in the US (I work for a retailer of them so got samples). Not one of them worked for me except temporarily in a pinch. Here is what I found:
-Cig-a-;likes don't really cut it. They deliver some of the nicotine, but that's only part of the battle. You also have the mental challenges. The lack of vapor, generally harsh and chemical throat hit, and fairly crappy taste make them less effective (at least for me).
-I started with an Innokin Itaste MVP 2.0 and an Innokkin VV 4. I bought an extra tank as well. Next you have to find an e-liquid that you like.
    - The Innokin Tanks (for me the I30 and the I30s) didn't satisfy me enough but some people truly love them!
    - The real satisfaction and surety that I could quit came when I added some better tanks!!!-
    - I LOVE my Aspire nautilus minis and Aspire nautilus, but that's me!
    - I REALLY LIKE my Kanger Aerotank, and My kanger genitanks!!
    - I Swear by Air flow adjustment now.
From what you said I might think the MVP2.0 is too big for you to start with, but the VV4 although bigger than a cig has a decent battery life and charges with any micro. You have to remember that it's not a cigarette! So break that pattern for yourself and for everyone around you. It looks different because IT IS DIFFERENT! You can say I DON"T SMOKE ANYMORE.
My wife still smokes, and that was usually the killer for me. I tried a smoke again and it tasted like crap and I didn't want it!!! That told me I was successful!
Be ready...Find tanks you like, find juice you like and try new things...I never thought I would LOVE to vape some of the things I do. Often stuff I don't eat or drink, but the vape flavor is different and they have become part of my every day rotation.
Oh....And Nicotine...be fair to yourself!! Don't try to start too low!! Start at 2.4 or 1.8 and ;lower it only when you're ready. Have a lower one and use it, but have a higher nicotine to satisfy you when you get that itch!
    Have faith in yourself!
GOOD LUCK!!!! People here are great and truly supportive! They don't just BS. you! Nobody has a real agenda and I have gotten great information and learned tons!
Don't be scared to spend $50 or so on your starter. It will make all the difference in the world!

For a beginner like yourself, I would go on eBay and search "18650 mech mod" and get a cheap clone of something (there's ones for $20), an 18650 battery (and charger), and a KangerTech Subtank Mini. You will not be disappointed. If I were to know what I know now (when I was in your position) I would have saved so much money. The regular "eGo" style Vape pens didn't do it for me. Once I got my first mechanical mod and the Kangertank, I completely went from 15 cigs a day (and vaping 18mg nicotine eJuice) to 1-2 cigs a day with 3mg nicotine juice. With the mod (battery) and your tank, you'll get the best taste out of your flavored eJuice and get really good vapor production too! (You can also search "box mods" on eBay too if you prefer those, which now I do.)

I personally have a TID MODS box mod (takes two 18650 batteries), with the Kanger Subtank Mini. It's amazing, but since you're new I'm sure you don't want to spent $150 on a mod :p. DM me for any other questions and good luck!
