Hi. Let me give you the background and then ask my question(s). I am currently on disability, diagnosed with MS, doctor told me to quit but e-cigs would at least be a great improvement. I tried Cig-2O, 24 mg in menthol. I liked it but not enough vapor and sometimes throat hit too harsh. I eventually went back to RYO analogs. I smoke about 1-1/2 packs a day. I want to try again and get several 5 mL bottles to try out different strengths/combinations. Since I don't have an electronic cigarette per se, I am completely baffled by what I see available and the cost is very prohibitive. Not to mention, all the abbreviations just are too confusing! lol I don't want something that looks like I'm trying to smoke crack! I would prefer something that looks more like a regular cigarette - maybe a different color so it obviously isn't a cigarette. Could you please help me with something that fits the bill? I can deal with a little bigger (think cigarello - no cigar sizes, please!).

Kanger eVod Kit - Red

That's a great, small form factor starter kit. It's purse/pocket friendly and it's about the size of a small cigar, fully assembled. Cost is around $50 shipped and that site has great customer service.

You could start out with a cig-a-like, and some people never leave that system. However, a lot more people find those systems wanting after a short while. The battery lives are short and the cartridge systems are relatively inefficient and therefore, costly over the long run.

A small Ego style system like the one linked above gives decent performance and is pretty good at delivering clouds of vapor and flavor.

and I have no idea what these things are or even what they mean. I am completely new to the idea of refilling anything e-cig! It reads like Greek. lol
I'm thinking my start-up budget is $50 tops to include everything. I know it's paltry but that's the reality of being on disability.

Could you please explain, such as advantages of or disadvantages of:

2 x EVOD BBC (Bottom Coil Changeable) 1.6ml Clearomizer (Resistance:2.5ohm) Huh?

5 x Bottom Coil Heads (Resistance:2.5ohm) Double huh?

that is a good recommendation.
(I DO wish they provided coils at 2.0 Ohms instead of 2.5 with it).

You may also want to look over the Halo products. Can't get you to the right page this minute as their website's messed up temporarily!!
But Halo has SIMILAR kits, called the Triton - nice looking, a bit more $ - that work well. On the plus side - they're also a juice vendor, so you can buy everything from one place - again, not cheap, but good. On the minus side, you have less compatibility if you want to experiment with other attachments...

The Evod tanks are rebuildable meaning when you need a new "head" (wick+ coil/ heating element) you just replace with a new head into the existing tank. Prolly the most economical way to vape.

100 mah= approx 1 hour vaping before batteries need recharge. The FastTech kit is good BUT expect at least 2 weeks delivery cuz China is clamping down on deliveries of batteries.

The Evod BCC is a bottom coil clearomizer. It fills from the bottom. The atomizer sits on the bottom of the tank and the wicks are always immersed in liquid. Those are very good performers and are relatively maintenance free.

The bottom coil heads are replacement atomizers. They are a little on the high side, resistance wise. The "Ohms" is the measure of electrical resistance. Most small form factor batteries do better with a lower resistance. When ordering, see if Eric (site/shop owner) can substitute some with 2.0 or 2.2 Ohms.

You could conceivably order just one battery, just one Evod and a charger.

Battery: Kanger eVod Batteries - eGo threaded

Evod: Kanger eVod bottom coil clearomizer - Stainless

Charger: eGo/510 USB Rapid Charger - 420mAh

That gets you out the door for about $30 or so, but then you have no backups. Getting another battery, another Evod and five extra coil heads is a good value.

You will soon find that value is everything. If you chase the cheapest prices on equipment, you will end up spending more in the long run.

I totally agree with the evod kit. It has everything you need to get started hardware-wise.

Here's a recent thread that includes some other vendors that sell the evod kit http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/468736-considering-evod-kit.html VapeDojo is the least expensive I've seen.

For e-liquid, you may want to check out ecblend ECBlend E-Liquids - Something Better They sell 5ml bottles at a very reasonable price, so it's cheap to try out lots of different types of flavors.

I did find these while waiting for some input, but again, all mostly Greek. Anyone have any experience with these?

$19.81 EGO-EVOD 6-in-1 Rechargeable 900mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - double e-cigarette / red + blue / 2.6

What would be the reason to get a 1100mah?

I would stay away from FastTech for your first major purchase. The site is in China. They have great customer service and unbeatable prices, but it can take weeks for your shipment to arrive, and that might not be a genuine Kanger Evod product. It might be a clone, and some of the clones have had quality control issues.

I've ordered many things from FastTech, but my Critical Assets--my first line gear--all comes from stateside sites.

There are major shipping delays for items shipped from Hong Kong right now. It could take 4 weeks to get your stuff due to increased customs inspections on everything leaving Hong Kong. We hope this is a temporary slowdown, but who knows. Fasttech is great when you have the luxury of time to wait, but 2 to 4 weeks will seem like a very long time when you're waiting for a starter kit.

Altsmoke is a very good vendor which recently opened up a retail store in the Cincinnati area. If you can get there, you will be able to sample many flavors and learn more about the different types of devices, and how to maintain them. It would be the easiest way to find out what combination of device and liquid you prefer, and local help is handy! Here's a link - Electronic Cigarette Store - Columbus - Cincinnati - Lexington - New Philadelphia - AltSmoke

Many of us spent a lot of money ordering stuff when we started vaping, and trial and error, plus shipping, gets expensive quickly.

I find it somewhat daunting that no one listens to their doctors advice,
My mom a month ago was diagnosed with (small cell) lung cancer and still will not quit smoking!,
she is doing laser surgery next month.
I can't really afford to just get in the car and drive for 22 hours or even afford an airline ticket,
but I am going to Michigan anyway.
I find it somewhat selfish for people to "get their fix" and not really care about their loved ones feelings being hurt and are left to suffer mentally of the health issues!

sorry for the rant...
Tony

OMG! Eastgate is right down the road from me! Thank you! Yeah, I was afraid I'd be spending too much on trial and error. It's really nice to know there's somewhere I can go and get one-on-one info and real-time experience at the same time! Thanks!

1100 mah will give you longer run time than a 650 or 900 mAh, but the battery length also gets longer with increasing mAh. 650 mAh is the longest that I really care to carry around with me. This will show you relative sizes https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10004770/1368703-650mah-900mah-1100mah-stainless-steel-batteries
