Since I have no idea what PG/VG ratio or amount of nicotine for the perfect vape, from what you're saying I think I'll use the CE4s for the "tobacco" types I got. Everything was menthol, some with more VG, some with mint, 12 & 24 mg, so I can also get an 18 out of it. I'll save the protank for the exotics! lol

This site and all you guys are AWESOME!!!

Just realize that darker juices and heavy VG juice clog the head (wick+ coil) quicker than high PG or lighter juices. The heads can be washed and dry burned when you start to get a harsh taste. That's the advantage of being able to disassemble certain clearos.
Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 5- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.
Many enjoy a 50/ 50 PG/ VG ratio as it's more smooth and less harsh.
Best of Luck and, most importantly, Enjoy the Journey

I just wanted to thank EVERYONE for helping out this poor noob!!! I ended up going with these options:

This ego kit:
eGo CE4 Duel Starter Kit w/1100mah Batte..

A couple of these for different liquids to try:
CE4 Clearomizer 1.2ml

And one of these with 5 extra coils:
Kanger Mini ProTank II w/ Removable Drip Tip

I went to ECBlends for some samples, got about 7 or 8 of those.

Did I miss anything? I just want enough to get started to see if I can kick the analogs altogether and these sounded like they would do the trick, at least for a few months.

Thanks!!!

Centaura,

I have to congratulate you on an excellent set of choices, IMHO, and for doing your homework. I hope you are happy with the results!

Best of luck. The e-juice can be the tricky part; if you wind up with a flavor or two that you at least like, you'll have scored a home run! Everybody's tastes are different (and as a smoker my taste buds were pretty much shot, so many juices tasted weak at first).

Please hang around here at ECF and let us know how it goes!

I would definitely go with the Evod starter kit. I started 3 weeks ago with the cigalikes and on the 2nd day I ordered a new kit. IMHO cigalikes are pretty useless. The Evod kit is my 3rd kit and I wish I'd started with it. Definitely the best of the 3 kits I've ordered and I could have saved a bunch of money if I'd only bought it first.

Just to let you know that the CE4 is disposable. Since the coil (the bit that heats up) is on top, you have to roll the liquid around the tank to make sure that the wicks stay wet; otherwise, you'll burn the coil out. I burned out my first CE4 lol, but I'm an idiot. The protank is way easier to deal with as the coil is on the bottom and the gravity keeps the wicks wet so long as there is liquid in the tank.

Also, the protank comes with a metallic drip tip. If you don't like the feel of that (I don't, but lots of people love it) you can buy plastic/ceramic/glass drip tips of varied shapes and sizes for not a lot of money. I really like the "knucklehead" ones where you can swivel/angle the top bit; they're handy when you're lying down or pretending to be Sherlock Holmes knucklehead.jpg

You probably just saved me a world of aggravation with this one video! Thank you!

LOLLL you're welcome. When I began vaping I watched so many YouTube Vids. I forgot to mention a couple of things.
After dry burn rinse ash from head in water.
You'll notice the wick in the coil area goes dark brown- it's stained from the juice- silica wick has a burn point of 1600°C so it's impossible to burn. My heads/ wicks lasted 10+ weeks and were still firing great BUT the silica wicks had begun to shard/ disintegrate so I tossed them.
Best of Luck.

I ended up with an eGo-T, clearomizers and a PTmini II. Love my batteries, but not really happy with clearos or the PT mini. I found a site that has mega size cartomizers and I like the no muss, no fuss you get with those. Throwing away? No problem. Just get a new one or 10! lol

I also learned that cigalikes have their place, especially when I'm trying to type stuff and want a drag at the same time without stopping my typing (it's what I do for a living). And my cartos fit both! The eGo and other manuals - they're kinda heavy to hold onto with lips or teeth, not to mention you have to stop and hold in the button. When you're too busy to stop and you're getting paid by production, that's a real no-no! So cigalikes have their place, at least in my world. :2c:

Congrats  Try not to drain your batts all the way down- they'll last longer. I tried the ProTank and it really wasn't my cup of tea. I prefer the Vision Mini Vivi Nova which is a top coil and gives a warmer vape. Now that you're using cartos you could think about a carto+ tank setup. Cartos last much longer.
In a tank my cartos last before they get tight draw:
dark juice- 50- 60 ml
light juice- 80-90 ml

You're not alone. They are many seasoned Vets that have all sorts of PVs and still occasionally use the cigalikes.
Cheers and Enjoy the Journey.

You are always so helpful and I thank you for that!

I have no idea how long my current clearos will last. It's only been about 3.5 weeks and I switch off between all 4 of them. The protank - got it just for glass-cracking juices (I've discovered I'm crazy for orange creamsicle) but probably will quit using that once this latest fill disappears because the cartos can handle just about everything I like! Since I use about 2 mL per day, sounds like I'll get a lot of use out of the cartos! That's fantastic!!!!! So far one battery lasts about 2 days. Thinking about getting one with variable voltage, just to see if there's any real difference, and to have a spare. :vapor:

You're always very welcome Centaura57...absolutely LOVE your avatar

Usually when they start tasting funky or when you put fresh juice in and it goes dark from the juice gunk on the coil it's time to clean or change.

LOLLL once you switch to VV and/ or VW there's no going back. Some really good deals. I use a larger APV at home and my Spinners while out and about. Here's a GREAT sales site...seems lottsa pre Christmas sales going on:
Vapor Joes - Daily Vaping Deals
I just ordered 7 VV/ VW PVs yesterday to give as Christmas presents :toast:
