Dear all,

some days ago I had a small incident with GGTS. The fire button was accidentally pressed for 10 to 15 minutes, I guess. Ithaka was on the GGTS.
The result was a dead battery and melted all plastic. The GGTS axis's plastic insulator was also melted. No explosion though which is the good part...

Now, I received spare parts from Vassilis so I am able to use GGTS and Ithaka together again.

However, I had big problems to install the axis battery spring into the brass axis and had to spend quit a lot of time with it until finally succeeded. Does anyone know a better way to do this? Maybe there is a movie on this?

And should there not be a fuse somewhere to prevent similar issues in the future? Or is this to be ordered separately?

I would appreciate your help on this. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Well thankfully, you weren't injured.
They're out of stock right now but this might be an option for you 2 Cents for Safety Mod Fuse 2
as for the battery spring install, are you sure you had a battery spring and not a button spring? The battery spring is very slighty tapered on one end and you should be able to just screw it into the battery post.

Thank you RiverNut,

This is what I ordered and received: THE GOLDEN GREEK MODS :: GGTS Accessories :: GGTS Battery Spring - e-smokeguru (besides other parts). That should be the battery spring.

One end is slightly bigger than the other one. I tried to screw the wider end into the brass axis. However, when attempting to do so, the diameter of that end increased due to the friction with the brass... it was a pain...

Its not a fuse you want , a fuse is used if you exceed a certain amount ( like a short ) of current which you didn't . Although a kick has a auto cutoff .

One should also make a habit of locking the button when not in use!
Glad to hear you are ok and nothing bad happened other than some melted plastic!

Definitely lesson learned... GGTS can be very dangerous, indeed and must be treated with respect.

However, I had an idea how to improve the fire button: make the switch lock ring (the thicker one) 1 mm larger than the one that blocks the entire fire button on the GGTS tube. It happened quite often that due to the fact that both have the same diameter, both were unscrewed when I was trying just to unlock the button.

Supacrazyguy, I know that Provari cuts the current after max. 14 seconds of pressing the switch. I realized after my incident that this is a very good safety measure.

I had a similar incident the other day. I left mine on for 45 mins. I was shocked that nothing melted, on the Odysseus nor my PV. I think the fact that I had just filled the Ody up full of 5 mls of juice and how well made both items are saved them. Not even the clear tank on my Ody melted nor any O-rings on either device. I took the battery out and dumped it , even though it showed no signs of damage on it.

I also dont use super low resistance builds so that might have had something to do with the lack of damage to the Ody or my vaporizer.

Wow, 45 minutes is HUGE... but I am glad to hear that nothing serious happened... you were lucky...
These things can be dangerous in not treated with due respect.
